Last week the Manitoba government issued 219 warnings and handed out 131 tickets for COVID-19 public health order violations.

From May 31st to June 6th, 124 $1,296 tickets were given out to individuals, five $298 tickets to people for not wearing a mask in an indoor public place, and one $5,00 ticket to a business.

Officials advise that 116 of the 124 tickets to individuals were in relation to gatherings in private residences or outdoors.

Since enforcement efforts began in April 2020, a total of 4,727 warnings and 1,812 tickets have been issued, resulting in over $2.4 million in fines to businesses and individuals.

The Dauphin and District Chamber of Commerce held their first segment of their annual State of the District address this morning.

The event, which was held on the virtual networking platform Gather, touched base with many different businesses, organizations, and municipalities.

Stephen Chychota, Executive Director for Dauphin and District Chamber of Commerce says this morning's event was an opportunity to connect with others in the community.

“This is the last major planned networking opportunity we have this season. If you’re going to watch the State of the District later, a lot of faces around this virtual table are going to be making presentations this afternoon.”

Part two of the State of the District address took place over Facebook Live this afternoon. 

There were many speakers at the event including, Dan Mazier - MP for Dauphin Swan River Neepawa, Gabe Mercier - President of Dauphin and District Chamber of Commerce, Ron Ryz - Reeve for the RM of Dauphin, and Nicole Yunker - Team Leader with Parkland Job Opportunity Centre.

The local food bank is calling upon Dauphinites as summer approaches.

Robin Gambler, chair of the Dauphin foodbank, says the organization could use anything people are willing to donate, but they did just purchased many canned items.

Gambler went on to highlight areas of need for the food bank, which include. Toilet paper, laundry soap, crackers,  pasta and noodles. 

If you or someone you know is looking to donate, you can drop off items at the Friendship Centre from 8:30 to 4 pm or at the Parkland Crossings from 9 am to 4 pm. Monday to Friday.

Once restrictions loosen in the province, the food bank will again start looking for new volunteers.

A 42-year-old man is dead after an accident on Highway 10, north of Swan River.

On Saturday, June 5th, at around 12 a.m., swan River RCMP responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

A 52-year-old woman had collided with a pedestrian and immediately called 911.

The investigation continues.

Emergency crews responded to an accident on Saturday, as a semi-trailer rolled over, south of Ethelbert, about seven kilometres from the Ukraina corner at Provincial Road 273 and Highway #10.

On Saturday at around 5:25 p.m., Dauphin RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle rollover at Highway 10 and PR 273 junction. A semi-truck had flipped over, trapping the driver inside.

The driver, a man from Winnipeg, was the only occupant of the vehicle. He received serious injuries and was transported to hospital. The investigation is ongoing and alcohol is not considered a factor.

Manitobans who received their first dose of Pfizer or Moderna on or before May 1st are now eligible for a second dose.

All indigenous Manitobans aged 12 and up and individuals with specific health conditions are eligible for their second dose if at least 28 days have passed since they got their first shot.

All Manitobans aged 12 and up are eligible for their first dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.

Everyone aged 40 and up, and people aged 30 to 39 with specific health conditions are eligible for their first dose of AstraZeneca.

To book an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine at a supersite or pop-up clinic in the province, call 1-844-626-8222. Consent forms are required for first and second doses.

A total of 946,611 vaccinations have been administered in Manitoba.

This week Manitoba is expecting the delivery of 87,750 doses of Pfizer vaccine.

At least one case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at Winnipegosis Collegiate.

The case was at the school on June 2 and 3 in grade 10 when they may have been infectious.

As a result, the school is working with health officials and close contacts have been identified. 

The Dauphin and District Chamber of Commerce is holding their annual State of the District address on Tuesday. 

The event will touch base with a number of different businesses, organizations, and municipalities.

Executive Director of the Dauphin Chamber, Stephen Chychota, says this year the event will be split into two segments. Part one will begin at 7:30 a.m.

“There’s a morning event where people can come together and network. We’re going to be hosting it on that gathering platform where people can connect with one another, share updates and insights with one another. We’ll also bring updates on what we’re going to be sharing during the live presentation at noon. That will be live on Facebook.”

Both events are free to attend, but you must register online.

The severe thunderstom watch that was in effect for Dauphin and most of the Parkland has now ended.

As we look forward to later in the week, Wednesday is calling for a day full of rain with rain also expected on Friday. 

Fire crews are currently on the scene of a grass fire east of Gilbert Plains.

There are heavy amounts of smoke, and people in or near the area should be cautious.

Public health officials announced 276 new cases of COVID-19 and one more death.

Today’s death is a woman in her 60s from the Prairie Mountain Health region,  linked to the B.1.1.7 variant of concern.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 11.5 percent provincially and 12.7 percent in Winnipeg

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 52,531.

Today’s COVID-19 data shows:
•    26 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;   
•    15 cases in the Northern health region;   
•    22 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;    
•    54 cases in the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region; and    
•    159 cases in the Winnipeg health region.
   

There are 4,114 active cases and 47,345 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19.

There are 213 people in hospital with active COVID-19 as well as 81 people in hospital with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious, for a total of 294 hospitalizations.

There are a total of 102 Manitoba patients receiving intensive care for COVID-19 including 44 people in intensive care units in Manitoba with active COVID-19 as well as 19 people with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care, amounting to a total of 63 ICU patients in Manitoba.

There are 39 Manitoba patients in intensive care units outside the province, with 36 in Ontario, one in Saskatchewan, and two in Alberta.

14 patients previously receiving care in an out-of-province ICU have now been returned to Manitoba hospitals.

The total number of deaths in people with COVID-19 is 1,072.

According to the province’s data, these are the numbers of active cases in the following Parkland health districts: Dauphin (46), Riding Mountain (11), Swan River (2), Duck Mountain (4), Porcupine Mountain (56), Agassiz Mountain (49), Asessippi (16), Little Saskatchewan (7), Whitemud (2). Brandon has 36 active cases.

In the Interlake, the Eriksdale/Ashern health district has 82 active cases of COVID-19. The Fisher/Peguis health district has 13 active cases.
