Dauphin’s Countryfest announced 10 new acts for this year’s festival.
Honeymoon Suite, Bobby Wills, Rivertown Saints, and Leaving Thomas highlighted the announcement this morning.
This was the latest wave of announcements by Countryfest.
The 2018 festival will be held from June 29th to July 1st.

Four companies will operate retail cannabis locations across the province.
One of the companies is a new business, partially owned by Fish River Cree Nation.
Tokyo Smoke is another partnership, with BOBHQ, a head shop from Brandon.
The other 2 companies are Delta 9 Cannabis Inc., and National Access Cannabis.
There is still no word on how many stores and locations each retailer is allowed to open.

Grandview residents can express their health care concerns in an open house, hosted by the Manitoba Liberal Party.
MLA Jon Gerrard is stopping in six communities, in the province, to get feedback.
Gerrard explains why Grandview is one of the communities chosen:
“We’re holding it in Grandview, in part, because there has been a lot of concern there about the future of their ambulance service.”
Grandview residents can share their health care concerns on Thursday, at the Drop-In Centre, at 10:30 in the morning, until 12:30 noon.

Three people are dead, in a 6-vehicle accident, south of Minnedosa.
Last night, a small SUV lost control and rolled into the southbound lane of Highway 10.
Both occupants of the SUV, a 67-year-old female and a 51-year-old female, from the RM of Glenella-Lansdowne, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 56-year-old passenger, from Waywayseecappo, in the first vehicle struck, was also pronounced deceased. Three other occupants of that vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Six vehicles were involved in the collision, with three additional people sent to hospital with minor injuries.

Two independent women will lead the Manitoba NDP’s investigation into the accusations facing a former Dauphin MLA.
Announced this afternoon, the Commission to Establish a Safe and Respectful Political Environment will investigate harassment and misconduct accusations of former MLA Stan Struthers.
In a release, the party says they need to do much more to ensure safety and respect for all employees, MLAs, members, and others.

Prairie Mountain Health is hosting a health care job fair, in the Lion’s Den at Credit Union Place, right now.
Anyone interested in starting a career in nursing, health care, mental health, or nutrition services, are encouraged to attend.
Larissa Kominko, Supervisor - Recruitment at Prairie Mountain Health, talks about what those attending will get out of the event:
“We are here today promoting health care careers. We want the public, anybody, to come and explore the different health care careers, and learn about what those different departments have to offer.”
The event is open, at least until 7, to give everyone an opportunity to learn about a potential new career in health care.

It’s another busy day at CropConnect 2018 Conference.
The sold out event has farmers and producers from all over the province including local Dauphin farmer, Boris Michaleski.
Michaleski says coming to the conference is always informative.
“I wanted to take in some of the presentations that are being held on various topics; plus, also wanted to attend some of the commodity group meetings that are being held.”
Today is the final day for CropConnect at the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg.

25-year-old Spencer Sumner made an appearance in Dauphin court yesterday.
He is facing charges of Manslaughter in connection to the death of a 37-year old man from Camperville.
RCMP responded to a disturbance on January 26 where they found a man deceased and arrested Sumner at the scene.
Sumner was remanded into custody until February 27.

19-year-old, Earl Moar, made a court appearance yesterday in Dauphin.
Moar is facing charges of an assault and arson that left a female dead in Crane River earlier this year.
He is being charged with Aggravated Assaualt, Assault, and Arson with Disregard for Human Life.
Moar is remanded into custody until March 13.

The Swan Valley School Division made a tough announcement yesterday.
They will be closing down the Minitonas Early Years School for students, Kindergarten to Grade 4, and moving them to the Minitonas Middle Years School.
Despite the provincial government announcing an increase in education funding, like Mountain View School Division, Swan Valley was facing a reduction.
Due to declining enrollment, the Swan Valley School Division had to make cut backs of around $250,000.
The division also announced that the Birch River School will change to a K to 6 school, and the Grades 7 & 8 students will be bussed to Bowsman School.

A two-vehicle collision, last night, has left three people dead.
The accident occurred around 5:00 in the afternoon, on Highway 10, just five kilometres south of Minnedosa.
Reports indicate the road was closed to clean up the scene.
Only emergency, and signed and marked vehicles were allowed through.
