Fusion Credit Union will be holding an in-person AGM next Wednesday at the Roblin Community Centre and all members are invited to attend.

The event that’ll be held on April 20th will include a dinner at 6 pm and the AGM to follow beginning at 7 pm. If you wish to attend the dinner, tickets for the dinner are only $5 and there’s no charge to attend the meeting.

If you cannot make it out to the Roblin Community Centre you can also attend a viewing of a live stream of the event on big screens inside the Fusion Credit Union branches in Dauphin, Brandon and Hamiota as well. The live stream viewings will include refreshments at 6:30 prior to the meeting.

Fusion Credit Union’s Chief Innovation Officer Michelle Mazerkewich said the agenda will include a lot of information about the credit union.

The AGM really is a good opportunity for Fusion members to learn about the success of the Credit Union over that past year. We do talk about financials but we also provide details of the community projects we supported as well as some of the other positive impacts we’ve made for our members and employees throughout the year.

If you would like to attend in person or at one of the branches for a live stream registration is open until Tuesday April 19 at 12pm.

You can find all the information on the AGM and how to register on their website here.

Keystone Agricultural Producers is a farm lobby group that represents producers across Manitoba. In the provincial budget that was released this week, there are a number of items that will benefit farmers in the province according to KAP General Manager Brenna Mahoney.

Something that KAP has been working on for a very long time is Education Property Tax. Farmers do pay exceptionally more than an average citizen because of the land they have, so we've been pushing for a reduction and actually the elimination of Education Property Tax.

This year, residential farm property's Education Property Tax rebate will move from 25% to 37.5%. Next year it will be raised again, this time to 50%. Another cause that KAP has been lobbying for is childcare in rural communities.

Something else that is really important, and this is coming directly from our young farmers, is childcare is obviously a challenge, particularly in rural communities. There is the childcare subsidy program that was also announced so that's ten dollars a day per child. One thing we're going to continue to push for is more open spots in rural communities

You can find out more about what KAP does at their website here.

Treacherous driving conditions are front and centre Thursday morning. All roads in and out of Dauphin are closed as we're still under a Winter Storm Warning.

Manitoba 511 has most roads heading south in the province closed, which means you can't head anywhere.

If you have to drive within city limits, do so extremely safely and take some extra time.

The man wanted on three counts of second-degree murder and Arson has been seen in Winnipeg as recent as mid-afternoon Tuesday.

Trevis McLeod, 50-years-old, is wanted after the murders of three of his family members, including his three-year-old son, six-year-old daughter and his 32-year-old wife in Portage la Prairie where the murders took place in a residential property that was burned down.

Manitoba RCMP say there is also a possibility that he could return to Portage la Prairie.

The RCMP say Trevis does not have a vehicle and that he is travelling by foot.

Trevis McLeod’s confirmed movements in Winnipeg include:

-On the afternoon of Monday, April 11, Trevis was seen on Magnus Ave.
-On Tuesday, April 12, at 1:30 am, Trevis was in the St. Boniface area.
-On Tuesday, April 12, at 2:20 pm, Trevis was at the Millennium Library and shortly thereafter, walked through the downtown skywalk.

He was last seen wearing glasses, a dark colored ball cap, black coat, black pants, black shoes and is carrying a black bag.

If you spot him, you are asked not to approach Trevis, rather call 911 immediately, he is considered armed and dangerous.

With this weekend being the Easter long weekend there are some store hours and closures to be aware of around Dauphin.

Beekeepers across the country are finding large amounts of their bees dead when checking on them this spring. Varroa destruction mites seem to be the cause of these deaths, with some producers losing up to 90% of their hives.

Allan Campbell is a beekeeper originally from Dauphin, who was with the Manitoba Beekeepers Association for ten years.

Controlling the mite is the best available option for us right now, but once mite levels hit a certain level, they kind of spiral out of control, and that's when you really start to see disease and health issues.

Manitoba is home to around 900 beekeepers, and about 25% of those are commercial beekeepers with 50 or more colonies. Every year, Manitoba produces 8,500 metric tonnes of honey.

The Mountain View School Division, Parkwest School Division, Rolling River School Division, École Jours de Plaine, Turtle River School Division, and Beautiful Plains School Division are all closed today. Tinker Bell Nursery School will also be closed today due to the weather.

Due to the incoming winter storm, the Mountain View School Division announced this afternoon that all schools and division facilities will be closed on Wednesday, April 13 and that all staff may work from home.

They also said they're making the announcement prior to the storm due to the severity of the forecast so that parents can plan in advance.

MVSD will assess the situation as the storm progresses prior to making a decision on school closures and/or bus cancellations for Thursday, April 14.

Premiere Heather Stefanson and the Manitoba government have announced the details of their 2022 Provincial Budget.

The Budget will help prioritize the health and well-being of Manitobans and will include a total investment of 7.2 billion dollars to make the health care system in the province stronger.

The list of key investments that were introduced to help strengthen the health-care system for all Manitobans include:

  • $110 million to reduce pandemic diagnostic and surgical backlogs;
  • $9 million for additional beds to increase capacity in Manitoba’s intensive care units;
  • Over $100 million for the St. Boniface Hospital emergency room (ER) redevelopment, tripling the size of its ER;
  • $17 million for implementing year one of the five-year A Pathway to Mental Health and Community Wellness: A Roadmap for Manitoba;
  • Nearly $20 million for developing a new seniors strategy;
  • $32 million to continue to implement initiatives from the Stevenson Review and strengthen long-term care for Manitoba seniors and their families;
  • More than $11 million for increasing nursing enrolment in Manitoba’s post-secondary institutions;
  • $812 million in continued capital commitment for rural and northern health care under the five-year Manitoba’s Clinical and Preventative Services Plan; and
  • $630 million for ongoing COVID-19 response and other contingencies.

On top of the new funds being spent in the budget, the Province also continues to work on more of the initiatives put forth by the task force that was set up last year to help reduce the backlog of surgeries and diagnostic tests.

The budget will include over $390 Million in investments this year alone.

In the years to come, the province will also invest $812 million to build, expand and fix healthcare facilities in all regions of the province. This will include building new hospitals in Portage la Prairie and Neepawa, along with expanding facilities in Morden-Winkler, Brandon, Steinbach, Selkirk and Dauphin
