Work will begin later this summer on the rebuilding of highway 10 through Riding Mountain National Park, and park officials say there won't be huge impact on the wildlife.
Richard Dupuis, the park's visitor experience manager, says the animals will likely not go near the construction area due to the amount of noise the work will create.
"Noise related to the construction will keep some of the wildlife away from those immediate vicinities, so it should reduce the risk of animal and vehicle impacts. That's what we foresee because when there's work done, animals tend to stay away from those areas."
Dupuis says the section being rebuilt this year is a six kilometre stretch north of the Lake Audy junction.
