Public health officials announced 251 new cases of COVID-19 and one death today.

The death was a man in his 50s from the Winnipeg Health region, linked to the B.1.1.7. variant of concern.

Today’s COVID-19 data shows:
• 20 cases in the Interlake–Eastern health region
• 15 cases in the Northern health region  
• 14 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region
• 18 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region
• 184 cases in the Winnipeg health region

There are 331 active cases in Prairie Mountain Health, and Dauphin has 14 active cases.

There have been 2,344 variant cases in the province, 978 of which are active.

Prairie Mountain Health has had 187 variant cases, 150 are of the B.1.1.7. variant, 36 are unspecified, and one is of the B. variant.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is eight percent provincially and 8.7 percent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 39,524.

There are 2,593 active cases and 35,952 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19.

There are 117 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 61 people in hospital with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious but continue to require care, for a total of 178 hospitalizations.

There are 32 people in intensive care with COVID-19 and 13 people with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care, for a total of 45 ICU patients. 

The total number of deaths in people with COVID-19 is 979.

According to the province’s data, there are active cases of COVID-19 in the following Parkland health districts: Dauphin (14), Riding Mountain (6), Swan River (3), Porcupine Mountain (76), Duck Mountain (1), Agassiz Mountain (70), Asessippi (3), Little Saskatchewan (45), Whitemud (9). Brandon has 65 active cases.

In the Interlake, the Eriksdale/Ashern health district has 16 active cases of COVID-19. The Fisher/Peguis health district has nine active cases.
