Manitoba farmers could be facing a new disease affecting canola crops.
Verticillium stripe according to Manitoba Co-Operators was first detected in Manitoba fields two years ago. The soil-borne disease thrives in the wet early season or drier conditions.
The Co-Operators say there are currently no foliar, seed treatments or fungicides available to help manage the spread of the disease across the country.
The disease is a big problem in Europe where yield losses can reach up to 30 per cent.
