There's an uptick in the mumps in Manitoba.

Provincial public health officials say nine cases of the mumps have been reported in Manitoba since September 1.

Most of the people affected are students at the University of Manitoba, live in Winnipeg, and were not hospitalized.

The province says Manitoba typically deals with four to five cases of mumps a year.
