Two Killed in Plane Crash Near Winnipeg
Two captains with the NORAD headquarters in Winnipeg have been identified by the military as the victims of a small plane crash near the city earlier this weekend.
Captain Bradley Ashcroft was with the construction engineering branch and Captain Zachary Cloutier-Gill was an air combat systems officer.
Military spokesman David Lavallee said neither are military pilots by trade, and which man was operating the aircraft is part of the investigation.
The single-engine Piper P-A 28 plane came down in the Rural Municipality of Springfield on Friday morning after taking off from the tiny Lyncrest Flight Centre.

Postal Worker Negotiations Ongoing
Canada Post has rejected the latest proposal from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers -- but the two sides are continuing to negotiate.
That means the mail will still be delivered on Monday.
The two sides say the main sticking point in the talks involves changes to employee pension plans.
The union and Canada Post must both give 72 hours notice before initiating any job action -- but that has not happened.

Death Toll Approaching 100 in Baghdad Suicide Bombing
The death toll is climbing following two bombings in Baghdad.
Officials now say at least 91 people were killed, including 15 children.
A police officer says a suicide bomber blew up his pickup truck packed with explosives outside a crowded shopping centre, killing at least 86 people and wounding up to 170 others.
The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility, saying it had deliberately targeted Shiite Muslims.
In the second attack, a bomb went off in Baghdad's northern Shaab area, killing five people and wounding 16.

Relief Through Road Repair at Rennie
There's some relief this long weekend for cottagers and visitors driving through Whiteshell Provincial Park in Manitoba.
Two lanes of Highway 307 have reopened at Rennie after a culvert was repaired and inspectors determined the road is now safe for driving.
However, the province warns people to remain cautious in the area, and reduce speed on the road.
A massive weekend rain storm in the Whiteshell last weekend left a lot of cottages damaged and roads covered in deep water.
