A Dauphin man has died and two people were hurt in a motorcycle crash on Highway 10, north of Ashville.

Police say a group of motorcycles were travelling south on the highway, when the lead rider spotted deer on the road shoulder. He slowed down, and was rear-ended by the motorcycle behind him.

The driver of the lead motorcycle, a 21-year-old Ochre River man and his passenger, a 21-year-old Dauphin woman, were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The driver of the second motorcycle, a 48-year-old Dauphin man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.
