The official numbers aren't known but it's looking like the mild winter is being kind to the City of Dauphin's chequebook.
There hasn't been much need for snow-clearing and Mayor Eric Irwin says as far as water main breaks, there's been only 2 this year compared to about 30 two years ago.
"Winter sort of straddles the end of the calendar year so you don't really know the dollar details until six months down the road," says Irwin. But he says so far so good.
Public works director bill brenner reported to city council utility and public works crews are getting to do work they wouldn't normally be doing in February.
