Environment Canada says Manitoba's winter has been warmer than normal.

Their models show that it is going to stay this way for the next couple months.

David Phillips, Senior Climatologist for Environment Canada, says that the weather has been milder than normal, and continues to be persistent.

"The safest thing ever in weather is to say, 'What you see is what you're going to get.' This El' Nino driven mild winter is not going to go away. It's weakened a little bit, but it's not all of a sudden that nature's going to now turn on you because you got too many mild days."

Phillips also says that January was two to four degrees warmer than normal in Dauphin, and that if the weather behaves like it did the last three months, the rest of February could turn out milder than normal as well.
