The Conservative infrastructure critic thinks yesterday's throne speech in Manitoba shows a government that's lost its way.

The throne speech included mention of a three year, $4.5-billion extension of the provincial infrastructure program, but Brandon West MLA Reg Helwer says the government won't be able to deliver and accuses the NDP of underspending in that area.

"What we've seen them do is promise to deliver and again fail. They underspent in infrastructure by $2.2-billion over three years."

Minister of Municipal government Drew Caldwell says that is factually incorrect.

Helwer also argued the speech focused too much on Winnipeg and not the rest of Manitoba. Caldwell argues that's also incorrect, pointing to a Growing Communities Infrastructure Fund designed to help rural and northern communities.
