A Birtle couple is among the nominees looking to win Canada's Outstanding Young Farmer award.
Mark Pawluk and his wife Cori won the Manitoba Young Farmer award earlier this year which earned them a trip to the national event taking place in Edmonton from November 17-22.
Pawluk says one thing him and his try to do on their farm is incorporate some new and innovative ideas.
"I think one of the things that maybe set us apart was we bought an old elevator years ago when they were selling them off and we've kinda improved on it and built it into a nice little business which adds value to our farm and does a fair bit of business on its own as well."
Pawluk also says agriculture is a very important thing for young people, saying there's never going to be a shortage of people needing food and says the farming world today is a lot different then it was 40 years ago.
