In a few weeks time, a live feed of Dauphin's skate park will be available online.
Mayor Eric Irwin says cameras are up already, and the livestream can be seen internally at city hall. He expects it to be up for the public within three weeks.
"We're sort of in the throes of doing it now. It's a matter of getting it to go live. Apparently, if a lot of people log on it uses up a lot of server capacity so that's an issue that has to be dealt with, but within three weeks I think it'll be up and going."
Irwin says the idea was driven by people concerned over what activities could be taking place at the unsupervised skate park.
"If (the cameras) are up in that fashion then, you know, whoever's using the park knows that they're sort of on candid camera and I take it that they'll act appropriately."
Irwin says there was no specific instance that spurred the idea, but there were concerns.
In terms of privacy, Irwin says there is no reasonable expectation of it in a public place. He also says you can't make out the face of any particular individual from the distance it's at, but you can make them out by their clothes and their style.
