The Dauphin Clippers hockey team is off to the perfect start.

They dominated over the weekend and won a championship at the Glenboro tournament. They went coast to coast and it wasn't even close. They beat St. Thomas Aquinas in their first game, 5-2. Next was a dominant 9-0 win over Boissevain.

In the final, it was another clinical performance. Dauphin won 6-2.

Jason Alf said it feels great to win. With that said, it's the regular season that truly matters.

"I'm not so much worried about the tournament as the fact we were able to play three solid games to get ready for our opening weekend," Alf said.

The team opens the season with a pair of games this weekend. They host Glenboro on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. On Sunday, they play in Boissevain at 3:00 p.m.

They made the league final last year. This year, they're expected to make another run.

"I think the guys are itching to get on the ice and play meaningful games," added Alf. "They know we're solid and have depth. We're looking forward to continuing what happened in Glenboro."

Following their home opener on Saturday, the Clippers next home game is on November 7.

"We have solid goaltending. We're solid on the back end," said Alf. "Offensively, we have a lot of balanced scoring. We're confident in using all our lines."

Here is the full schedule.
