Two teams with a storied past are set to battle for the right to compete for a title.
In the Westman High School Hockey League, the Swan Valley Tigers advanced to the semifinals. On Sunday night, they scored eight times and doubled up the Roblin/Grandview/Gilbert Plains Raiders, 8-4.
The game was tied at two after 20 minutes, but the Tigers ran away with the game in the second period in front of their home fans. Swan Valley scored four times in the midway frame and never looked back. Payton Thompson scored twice for the Tigers in the win. Luke Harness also added two for Swan Valley.
Cole Fletcher, Easten Eggie, Dylan Anderson, and Madden Atkinson scored singles for the Tigers.
In the defeat, Cash Kitzul netted two goals for the Raiders. Maddox Andres and Tyson Weisner also scored.
Swan Valley will now play the Dauphin Clippers in a best-of-three. The series winner will play in the championship series. Game one is Tuesday night in Swan River at the Centennial Arena.
On the other side of the bracket, the Neepawa Tigers will play the Vincent Massey Vikings. That series starts on Tuesday in Brandon at the Sportsplex.
