Another busy weekend lies ahead for Dauphin's Sue Lucas.
After winning the 150 mile Tuscobia Winter Ultra in Wisconsin, Lucas goes into the 130 mile Actif Epica on Saturday in the south eastern part of Manitoba.
The endurance race is the third and final part in the triple crown series which also includes the Arrowhead Ultra 135 in Minnesota.
Lucas says when she concludes this weekend's race something special will happen.
"Those who finish all three races in the winter season are inducted into this order called 'The Order of the Hrimthurs'. There's five people (All men) that have been inducted since it started a few years ago. There's four of us this year."
Sue Lucas will be the first woman to be inducted into 'The Order of the Hrimthurs'.
The names in the Order will pass into the realm of legends, a process acknowledged with a special ceremony and award.
Lucas talks about the race in front of her this weekend...
"It's more of a running race compared to the other two because there's a lot of gravel roads, prairies and trails that you have to cross. There's no trees, so depending which way the wind is blowing it could be pretty nasty out there. You're also not carrying a sled with mandatory gear but you do have some gear, a back pack and that. It starts in St.Malo and ends at The Forks. It's a challenge and that's my plan for this year."
The 130 mile Actif Epic goes on Valentines day.
Lucas says after the event the Winter race season is over and she'll start preparing for the summer.
