One of the finest examples of community support that the Rotary Club of Dauphin exhibits is their weekly partnership with the Dauphin Active Living Centre.
In the midst of the COVID pandemic, the Active Living Centre decided to expand their meals program by delivering meals to local residents.
Kim Armstrong with the Centre says a call went out for volunteers to deliver the meals, and the Rotary club immediately jumped on board.
"They fill every Friday for us, and without them it would be staff probably having to go out and probably cover the number of meals that we deliver,"
In the past year, local Rotarians delivered 1,624 meals to Dauphin residents.
Club member Daryl Smilski says it is one of his favourite activities as a member of Rotary.
"We don't even though very much. Like I say we just bring the meals and they are so happy when we bring it that they sometimes even think that we make the meals. I always tell them that there is no way that they want to eat anything that I cook. But it is so nice getting out there and seeing the people."
The meals program as a whole has been running out of the Dauphin Active Living Centre for over 20 years.
