In the short time she's held the role, Angie Neely, the new General Manager at Countryfest Community Cinema, has made some big steps in getting the community a lot more involved.
Now she's asking for even more community support, looking for local vendors, makers, and artists who want to show their works and wares at Cinema events.
"We're going to be doing a Street Fighter event, so I'd like some local vendors or artisans that would like to come and maybe set up their wares in the lobby, and kind of similar to Practical Magic, we'll have costumes, and we'll have a little costume giveaway for best dressed, and if you do come dressed up, we'll give you a little break on admission," said Neely.
Giving a discount on admissions for costume-wearing moviegoers was a simple decision for Neely. If the community is going to show up, then she's going to show up for the community. It plays right into promoting and focusing on local vendors, even further stressing the Cinema's community focus.
"I wanted to give people a break. Get dressed up, have some fun. If you're willing to get dressed up, we're willing to give you a bit of a break...this is a community cinema, we are a space for the community. I want to be able to not only be able to support the community, but I also need the community's support," said Neely.
