On September 18th, Swan River RCMP arrested several men in relation to a series of crimes across the community.
RCMP was made aware of a sexual assault that had occurred the previous day, and after investigations involving the Swan River General Investigation Section, two suspects were identified; a 24 year old male from Swan River, and a 30 year old male from Pine Creek First Nation.
The investigation also linked those suspects to other incidents in the past week. On September 15th, a 38 year old male was chased by 3 males near 4th Avenue North, and was assaulted. On September 17th, a break and enter was reported at a Parkview Drive residence, where men wearing masks were seen exiting the home with items.
The 30 year old suspect was arrested on the morning of the 18th without incident. The 24 year old suspect was located later that afternoon. He attempted to flee, ignoring instructions to show his hands. He was struck by an officer with a 40mm extended range impact weapon, then returned to the home, and surrendered to officers shortly after.
Marcus George of Swan River, Jericho Flatfoot of Pine Creek First Nation, and Mackenzie Macdonald of Swan River are all charged with offences relating to the incidents. They were all remanded into custody.
