A 59-year-old man is dead as a result of an ATV crash on the Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation.
On Sunday just after 1 a.m., the Manitoba First Nations Police Service in Sandy Bay located an unconscious man in the ditch, a short distance away from an ATV.
Early investigation revealed that the vehicle at a high rate of speed when it lost control and went into the ditch.
Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.
The driver and lone occupant of the ATV, who was wearing safety gear including a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is the second fatality in the community involving an ATV in the span of one week.
Police would like to remind the public to exercise caution and follow all off-road vehicle laws and regulations when operating an ATV or any other off-road vehicle.
