On July 28 at 8:00 p.m., the Ste. Rose RCMP pulled over a 32-year-old man who was travelling well above the posted speed limit.
Officers pulled over the driver on Highway 68, when he was caught travelling at 149 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The driver, who is not to consume alcohol under a court order, gave two breath samples, and failed both.
Officers then found and seized unstamped tobacco inside the truck.
The driver, from the RM of St. Andrews, had his driver's license suspended for 90 days. He received tickets totalling nearly $3,284. This includes $692 for speeding and $2,542 for possessing unmarked tobacco.
His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the next 30 days.
