The City of Dauphin has installed a new pedestrian crosswalk and sidewalk on 1st Avenue SE, on the north side of Credit Union Place.
Without a crosswalk, pedestrians were required to either walk from the parking lot across the street to the arena, or walk quite a distance to the nearest marked crossing. The new installation provides both ease-of-use, and an increase in pedestrian safety.
The crosswalk features flashing pedestrian lights, to better alert drivers when someone is crossing the street. The City of Dauphin reminds drivers to always watch for pedestrians, and to stop when the flashing lights are on. Pedestrians are encouraged to use the designated crosswalk, and activate the lights before crossing.
