In a Facebook post earlier today, the Dauphin & District Handivan announced they will be increasing their prices slightly on May 1st.
Handivan Office Administrator Ann Wagner told CKDM NewsNow the details.
"So our in-town rate as of May 1st is going to be $12 a trip, do a 2 way trip will be $24, it used to be $10, so we're just gonna go up $2...the cost of everything is going up recently, gas, our maintenance on our vehicles, and we are trying to purchase a new vehicle right now and it's gone from $120,000 to $200,000," said Wagner.
Even with the small price increase, Wagner said there's still plenty of reasons why people should book the Handivan, especially older Dauphinites.
"Drivers also will help load up groceries, put them in the van when [people] go shopping, and also take them to the door of their home, and help them take their groceries home...we do have a pre-booking policy for 24 hours in advance, and the hours are Monday to Friday 8 to 6, and Saturdays 9 to 5," said Wagner.
