What a finish to a great season for the Dauphin Peewee AA Kings as they are the 2017-2018 Rural Provincial Champions.
The Kings met the also previously undefeated Flin Flon Bombers in the final, and after 45 minutes of back and forth action, the Kings came out on top, 4-3.
Once again it was the familiar foes of Carter Zalischuk and Kyan Grouette who led the way.
Zalischuk had three goals and several other great chances for more, while Grouette pitched in one goal and a helper.
Cody Coombs was very good between the pipes for Dauphin making several big saves late in the game to preserve the victory.
In the bronze medal game earlier, Morden beat Steinbach.

Montana Jubenvill had an incredible game scoring three times, and the Grand Plains Ice Dogs capped off a perfect weekend by winning the Atom B Rural Provincial Championships in Hamiota.
Layne Minshull scored the other Ice Dogs goal in the 4-3 win.
The win gave the Ice Dogs a perfect 5-0 record this weekend, and they scored 37 goals while giving up just seven.

The Gilbert Plains Trojans varsity girls basketball team are off to the AA Provincial Championships later this month.
The team beat Russell and MacGregor yesterday to qualify for the Championships.
This year the Provincial Championships are March 15-17 in Dominion City.

The Grand Plains Atom Ice Dogs have been dominant this weekend, and now they have their chance to cap off the weekend with a gold medal.
They'll take on the AtomC Yellow Jackets in the Championship final at the Atom B Provincial Championships in Hamiota later today.
In four games so far, the Ice Dogs have scored 33 goals while giving up just four.
The final is at 5:00 p.m.

The Dauphin AA Peewee Kings will play for a gold medal at the Provincial Championships later today after they won their semifinal earlier today against Steinbach, 5-3.
The two teams both scored one goal in the first and second period before Dauphin scored three in the third to steal the game.
Kyan Grouette and Carter Zalischuk led the Kings with two goals apiece, while Linden Smigelsky had one goal and one assist.
The final goes at 5:30 tonight at Credit Union Place.

The Grandview Comets won game one, and now they won game two as they shutout the Swan Valley Axemen last night on home ice, 5-2.
The Comets will head on the road on Wednesday night as they look to sweep away the Axemen.

Logan Storey had an incredible game scoring four goals, but it wasn't enough as the Dauphin Clippers season came to an end yesterday.
The Raiders beat the Clippers, 5-4 to advance to the Championship series in the WHSHL.

It wasn't the result they wanted, but the Dauphin Kings battled to the last minute in a 6-2 loss to Virden that ended their season tonight.
Both teams went back and forth with chances in the first 17 minutes of the first, but then Virden capitalized on their chances with four goals in the periods last three minutes to lead 4-0 after 20.
Brendan Arnold scored his first of the game midway through the second to trim the deficit to 4-1 after 40.
Arnold scored his second of the game on a breakaway in the third to trim the deficit to 4-2, but that's as close as the Kings would come.
Virden added two more goals, one being an empty net to pick up the two points and clinch the second spot heading into playoffs.

After a tough setback last night in game two of their semifinal series against Killarney, the Dauphin Clippers and Raiders will hook up again tonight for a berth in the Championship series in the WHSHL.
The Clippers led by two goals yesterday before giving up two in the third, and one in overtime.
Game time tonight is set for 8:30 at Credit Union Place.

The Dauphin Bantam Kings are one win away from the Championship series in the Parkissimo Hockey League.
They kicked off their semifinal best of three series with a 6-1 win against Minnedosa.
After going down 1-0 in the game, Declan Sweetman tied the game up for the Kings, and Rylan Gibbs gave the Kings a 2-1 lead after the first.
From there, it was all Kings as Keanu Woodhouse, Kayden Bodnar, Julien Clement and Bodnar scored his second in the big win.
