Brandon Wheat Kings goaltender Logan Thompson is an All-Star.
The 21-year-old senior from Calgary was named to the Eastern Conference Second All-Star Team on March 21st.
In 55 games this season, he had a 3.41 G.A.A, and a .908 save percentage.
“It was pretty unexpected,” said Thompson. “It’s nice to be recognized, and I appreciate it. But, I’m focused on trying to win a WHL title with the team.”
It’s been an up and down season for the Wheaties. They started the season as one of the best teams in Canada and kept that pace up until the Trade Deadline.
On Trade Deadline Day, the Wheat Kings then dealt Tanner Kaspick and Kale Clague to Victoria and Moose Jaw respectively which changed the dynamic of the team.
“There have been some highs, and some lows for sure,” said Thompson. “But, I look at this team right now and I think we can do something pretty special. If we continue to work hard and stick to our systems, we should do fine.”
Logan and the rest of the team will enter the playoffs as one of the hottest teams in the WHL.
They finished out the season with three straight wins and went 7-3 in their final 10.
“I feel the way we ended off the season is how we’re going to enter the playoffs,” said Thompson. “We’re hot, we feel good and we’re just going to take it game-by-game.”
The Wheaties first round matchup is the Medicine Hat Tigers, a team that eliminated Brandon from playoffs last year.
“It’s not going to be easy,” said Thompson. “There’s definitely some hatred between the two clubs. They’re a good team, they’re fast and it’s not easy to beat them in their rink. We just need to keep it simple, play hard and go from there.”

“It’s awesome to be coming back to Dauphin,” said Thompson. “The atmosphere in the rink was great, and the fans were awesome cheering us on. This year, we owe it to the fans to get some wins. It definitely gave me some chills, and I’m looking forward to playing there again next week.”
Game one between the two clubs goes tonight in Medicine Hat with the puck drop set for 8:30 MB time.

The Dauphin Bantam AA Kings finished their season tonight with a 3-1 loss.
The team was in Swan River for game three of their Championship series with the Stampeders.
The Kings won the first game of the series, 4-1, but then lost the last two to fall in the best of three.
Parker Boguski scored the lone goal for the Kings with the assist going to Rylan Gibbs.

"Tickets sales are going really well," said Chris Falko, Game Day Operations, Community Relations for the Wheat Kings. "You can now get your specific seat online which is a feature a lot of people like. There's definitely a lot of great seats available for the games."
On top of being able to purchase your tickets online or by calling the Wheat Kings Box Office, you can also pick yours up in person on Monday, March 26th.
The Wheat Kings will be bringing their Box Office to Credit Union Place from 12-5:30.
After being swept last year by Medicine Hat, the Wheat Kings will be looking for some revenge, and the series should be a fun one.
"On paper, this is going to be one of the best series in the first round," said Falko. "These two teams are incredibly well-matched, so it should be a really good series. And, Brandon got swept on home ice in Dauphin last year, so they don't want that to happen again.
The Wheat Kings won the season series between the two clubs this season, by picking up wins in three of four games.

After a tough OT loss last night, the Dauphin AA Bantam Kings have another chance at winning the Championship tonight.
The Kings will once again hook up with the Stampeders in game three of the Parkissimo League Final.
"Our game plan isn't going to really change," said Jason Gibbs, Coach. "Last night's game was fantastic. We're going into Swan River, and we're going to come out with a win."
Goaltending stole the show last night as both Ben Talbot for the Kings, and the Stamps goalie were excellent.
"I think we have to be more hungry on the puck for sure," said Gibbs. "If we do that, we'll get more quality chances and we'll be able to find the back of the net."
Tonight's game three will be the third straight day the two teams will be hooking up, but as Jason says the guys are ready to go.
"Three games in three days is definitely tough on the players, but they know what's at stake," said Gibbs. "They all know they have to stay hydrated, have a good meal and they should be good to go."
Gametime tonight is set for 7:30.

Another WHSHL season has come to an end, and once again the Vincent Massey Vikings are Champions.
The Vikings picked up their fourth-straight league title as they swept Killarney in the finals.
"They definitely had an incredible season and you can't take anything away from them," said Jason Alf, Co-President of the WHSHL. "As far as the league goes, we're very happy with how things went. It was definitely a very successful season."
A big change this year was several team's being added to the league which separated the league into three different divisions, and Jason says more may be coming in next season.
"We have our spring meeting coming up here towards the end of April, so as of right now there's not much to say," said Alf. "I have heard a team from MacGregor might be looking to come in, but that's what we'll talk more about at the meeting. But, as long as we have all the teams back from this past season, we'll be happy for sure."
One of the best stories of the season was the Swan River Tigers. The expansion team not only exceeded expectations in the regular season but ended up winning the Consolation Side Championship.
"That was definitely a huge moment for their program," said Alf.
It was also a good year for the Dauphin Clippers who lost just once in regulation in the regular season, and once in a shootout.
"I never expected the season we had coming into it because there are so many good teams in the league," said Alf. "The Christmas Classic was also a big success, and the Dallas trip is definitely something the kids will never forget."
Vincent Massey became the first team to win at least back-to-back Championships since the Neepawa Tigers did it from 2010-2012.

The Grandview Comets capped off a great playoff run last night, and are now the Champions of the NCHL.
The Comets beat Miniota-Elkhorn, 5-4 in double overtime to sweep the best of five series.
Jason Shaw played hero in the game scoring the OT winner.
Jerron Kyle notched two goals for the club, while Devron Jakeman, and Luke Stokotelny scored one each.
The Comets now advance to the Senior A Provincials which begin next Thursday in Rivers. The team then travels to Winnipeg next Saturday.
Comets captain, TJ Warkentin will join 730CKDM tomorrow to share his reaction.

The Dauphin AA Bantam Kings and Swan Valley Stampeders are going the distance.
The Stampeders scored the only goal in the game just over a couple minutes into overtime to win, 1-0.
Ben Talbot was exceptional between the pipes for the Kings making several very good saves.
The two teams will now meet tomorrow night to decide a Champion and the game will be played in Swan River.

The Dauphin AA Bantam Kings can win the Parkissimo Hockey League tonight on home ice!
The Kings welcome Swan Valley in game two of the best of three series after winning last night, 4-1.
"The kids came out and played really hard from the first to the last whistle last night," said Jason Gibbs, Coach. "They're pumped up. They want the Championship, and I think they're going to come out even harder tonight."
It's been quite the last couple of weeks for Dauphin. On March 11th, the team won the Provincial Championships in the Pas, but tonight's game will be the first time this season the team has the chance to win a Championship on home ice.
"It's going to be a really exciting game for the kids," said Gibbs. "This is the biggest game we've played in Dauphin all season. It would definitely be icing on the cake if we can finish it off in front of the home crowd tonight."
Besides the Parkland Cup this upcoming weekend, tonight's game will be one of the last competitive games in Dauphin this hockey season, and there are lots of reasons to head down to the rink.
"It's really good hockey, and it's one of the final games in Dauphin this season in general," said Gibbs. "If fans want a good fast-paced brand of hockey, Credit Union Place is the place to be tonight."

The Grandview Comets have been on a quest to win a Championship all season long, and tonight they have that chance.
The team heads to the Elkhorn Arena to take on the #1 ranked Miniota-Elkhorn C-Hawks and with a win, they would win the league.
In the first two games of the series, the Comets have continued their offensive presence scoring 10 goals and between the pipes, Danny McDonald has been very good.
The C-Hawks went 12-1-3 in the regular season, and despite being up 2-0, Comets Captain TJ Warkentin expects a big push tonight in Elkhorn.
"I'm expecting a massive push," said Warkentin. "A series-clinching game is always the hardest one to win. We know they're going to come out hard, but we have to also come out hard and not give them any confidence. We have to give ourselves every opportunity to win this one."
Gametime tonight is set for 8:30.

The Dauphin Bantam AA Kings are one win away from another Championship.
The team kicked off their Parkissimo Hockey League final with a 4-1 win over Swan Valley tonight.
Jake Strang, Carson Sokolan, Kayden Bodnar, and Rylan Gibbs scored one each for the Kings in the win.
The Kings will now look to wrap it up tomorrow night on home ice at 7:15 at Credit Union Place.

If you're a parent or young hockey player and you want to know how you could make it to the next level, you'll get your chance on Monday, March 26th.
The General Manager of the Brandon Wheat Kings Grant Armstrong will be in town answering questions at a Q&A Event which is held at the Lion's Den.
"I want to provide some information to parents on the direction of the game," said Armstrong. "And, just the ins and outs of what it takes to play in the WHL."
The event is one day before the Wheat Kings play game three of their first-round series against Medicine Hat.
"There is a lot of information out there, but I think it's important that everyone has the right information," said Armstrong.
Armstrong who was hired by the Wheat Kings in late-2016 says sharing some of his knowledge and passion for the game is what he loves to do.
"I think it's important to give back," said Armstrong. "We want players to have the right information they need, so when they're trying to get to the next level they have it readily available."
The event takes place at 7:30 at the Lion's Den and it's free to attend.
