Today the City of Winnipeg announced it would be contributing close to $150,000 dollars in initiatives towards combating homelessness in the downtown core. Some of these plans included increasing the number of community outreach workers within the community.

When asked about the homeless in Dauphin, Director at Parkland Crossing, Jamie Harvey says its a concern that seriously needs to be looked at. He said, "A housing shortage is very significant in Dauphin... we don't have the infrastructure, we don't have a homeless shelter, we don't have a Salvation Army anymore, we don't have the facilities."

Harvey added that housing at Parkland Crossing is nearly at capacity, specifically pointing out apartment space being entirely full.
