Later this year, the Parkland Gators will be running two different Swim-A-Thon's at the swimming pool inside the Parkland Rec Complex.

Before that, they will hold a registration meeting and kick-off event tonight down at the pool.

"We're getting ready for our annual Swim-A-Thon, and tonight our goal is to get everyone really excited for it," said Diana Wilson. "We're also going to get the parents set up with the donation website so the kids can raise money."

90% of the proceeds raised from the swimmers will go right back to the Parkland Gators. The goal this year is to raise enough for new lane ropes for the pool.

"The ropes they have at the pool have been used for a long time and they've been breaking a lot this year," added Wilson.

The Swim-A-Thon for the beginner and intermediate levels is on March 10 from 9-11:00 a.m. On May 11, the advanced group will swim from 8-10:00 a.m.

"It's a great fundraiser for us and we hope the whole community comes to cheer the swimmers on, it's a lot of fun for them," said Wilson.

The event tonight starts at 5:30.
