Trevor Hadwin, agro-climate specialist with AAFC, says the southern areas of the province have received more moisture in recent weeks, but other areas of the province haven't been as fortunate.

 

Hadwin says they are closely monitoring the situation in the Parkland because there's the potential for a drought this summer.

 

"The southern regions started out the year very dry but have seen quite a bit of rainfall from those storms that are stretching up from the US over the last month or so. We're seeing a great improvement in the southern regions, but the northern regions and the Parkland region are certainly well below normal in soil moisture and forage production for this time of year."
