Usually this camp is held in the Winnipeg area, but camp co-ordinator and DRCSS band director, Taylor Schmidt says he thinks this camp would be beneficial and make would be easier for band students in the Parkland area to attend.
"There's a lot of young musicians in Dauphin and even though it is being hosted in Dauphin, it's not just for Dauphin people, it's just being hosted in Dauphin. So, if there is any musicians in the surrounding areas whether it's The Pas, or Swan River, Gilbert, Ste. Rose, Laurier, they can obviously register for the camp."
Schmidt says there are requirements to attend.
"The camp itself is for any student that is entering into grade six or into grade 10 and they need one or more years of experience playing on an instrument."
There are 21 students signed up so far, but there can be a maximum of 75 students in attendance.
The camp will be held at the DRCSS from August 15th-19th.
