The biggest prize in the Canadian Football League is up for grabs tonight.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers look to win their first Grey Cup title since 1990 when they take on the Hamilton Tiger Cats.

After going 16-3 so far this season, the Tiger Cats will enter the game as favourites. Despite that, it doesn’t mean much to Adam Bighill.

”I wouldn’t say any of us are worrying about that. The only thing we’re thinking is we haven’t beat Hamilton yet this season and we need to,” he said. “They’re a very good football club, but we made it here for a reason. We’re going into this game believing that we’re going to win, now we just have to get it done.”

The Bombers are coming off an impressive West Semifinal win. They didn’t allow a touchdown against Saskatchewan. Hamilton, meanwhile, put up 36 points in their East Final against Edmonton.

They’re led by Brandon Banks who won the Most Outstanding Player Award.

On the defensive side of the ball, Winnipeg will rely heavily on Willie Jefferson who won the Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award.

Bighill will also be looking for his second Grey Cup. He won one back in 2011. Ironically enough, he beat Winnipeg that year when he was playing with BC.

Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m.

The Parkland U18 Rangers nearly had triple the amount of shots as the Kenora Thistles, but they couldn’t get it done on Saturday.

The Thistles went up 4-1 and they held on for a 4-3 win, their first of the season.

After Hayden Lacquette made it 1-0 Parkland, the Thistles scored four straight.

Jayden Jubenvill and Brayden Kohlman would score a goal each a minute apart in the third, but it wasn’t enough for the Rangers.

They’ll now head on the road for three straight next weekend. Friday’s game is in Kenora.

Evan Gullett made some big plays as a Parkland Ranger and now he’s made a huge one with the Grandview Comets.

He scored the game winning goal as Grandview won their first game of the season in a thrilling 5-4 victory against Langenburg.

It was one of Evan’s two goals on the night.

The Dauphin Super 8 Bantam Kings are getting set to play for a gold medal.

Playing in the Morden tournament, the Kings won their first two games to advance to the championship.

In their first game, Cody Coombs had the shutout as the team won 9-0.

In the semifinals, the team beat Altona, 5-4. Brayden Tkachuk and Matthew Zurba both scored twice while Liam Musgrave scored the other.

They’ll now play the Morden Hawks in the final.

The Parkland Bantam Rangers will play in the B-Side Final tomorrow morning at the Winnipeg Jets AAA Classic.

Playing against Weyburn today in the semifinals, Brayden Dube led the Rangers with four goals in a 6-4 win.

Will Munro and Kyan Grouette both scored a goal in the win.

Murray Cook Jr. made 20 saves on 23 shots while Kyler Swanton went 6-for-7 for Parkland in the win.

Dauphin’s, Breken Brezden is at it again on the ice.

She skated today in the Winnipeg Super Skate short competition at the St. James Civic Centre and she finished with a gold medal.

Her score was 37.06.

Tomorrow she’ll take part in the long program.

After that, Brezden is off to Edmonton for the Skate Canada Challenge.

Matthias Smith picked up his first ever Manitoba Junior Hockey League shutout this afternoon.

Smith made 31 saves, several of which were top notch as Dauphin beat Winnipeg, 3-0.

The win was also the first time the team shutout a team this season.

Dauphin also moved won their 10th game of the season.

With just 50 seconds left in the first, Carter Sawchuk made it 1-0 off a Winnipeg turnover.

Dauphin dominated the second period and they scored two goals along the way.

First up was Grady Hobbs who went coast-to-coast and snapped a shot past Cooper Hatfield just seven minutes into the middle frame.

Eight minutes later, Avery Smith also went the length of the ice and he tucked one past Hatfield to make it 3-0 for Dauphin after 40.

No goals were scored in the third as Dauphin began their weekend road trip with two points.

They’re now 10-10-3-2. Next up is a game in Winkler tomorrow and Darnell Duff will have the pregame show at 7:15.

We are just one day away from the 107th Grey Cup that takes place in Calgary tomorrow afternoon starting at 5:00 p.m.

As I've been doing all week, it's now time to get you one step closer to kick-off tomorrow in a game that's being dubbed the "Drought Bowl". The game will feature the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Winnipeg hasn't won a title since 1990 while Hamilton hasn't won since 1999.

When it comes to the drought, Adam Bighill, defensive all-star for Winnipeg isn't buying into it.

"There is really no time to think about ending that. It's time to prepare ourselves to win," said Bighill from Calgary. "We already believe we're going to win this game and that's already been built into preparing for this week, now it's just time to go earn it."

"We know if we take care of the small details, we can earn the right to call ourselves champions," he added.

Bighill had 61 tackles this regular season with Winnipeg. He also added four sacks and two interceptions. He added another six tackles through the Western Semifinal and Final. Bighill began his CFL career in 2011 with the BC Lions. Ironically enough, Bighill and the Lions beat Winnipeg, 34-23 to win the title that season.

As a second-year Bomber, Bighill is excited for the opportunity to add to his already elite championship resume.

"We got to this point for a reason. It's because of how hard we worked every week and prepared," he added. "There is nothing after this week. It's about putting every single bit into preparing for this week and making sure we're ready for Hamilton. We have to understand what they're going to do and we have to understand how we're going to get this win."

Winnipeg will serve as the home team tomorrow which means they will get the Stampeders locker room. However, they will be wearing their away jerseys for the game. They have won their last two games with those and they have only given up 27 points in the process.

"We know we were going to have to be on the road the entire time through this road, sure we're the home team, but we're still on the road and wearing our road jerseys," he continued. "It's a part of our character, our focus, and who we are. It's time to go out and get this thing."

Hamilton will enter the contest as three-point favourites. They've lost just three times this weekend and they have 16 wins. Winnipeg were also underdogs in their game against Calgary and Saskatchewan, so Winnipeg is used to being underdogs.

"I don't think we're really worried about that. The only thing we're worried about is we haven't beaten Hamilton this year, they're the only team in the CFL that we haven't," concluded Bighill. "They're the most explosive offence, they have a solid defensive group, and special teams as well."

"It's two great football teams that are matching up tomorrow. The one that executes the best, can control the football, and has the least amount of penalties has the best chance to win," added Bighill.

Tomorrow's game is set for 5:00 p.m. from McMahon Stadium.

The Dauphin Kings will take part in a matinee affair against one of the hottest teams in the league.

Dauphin who won their last game will play the Winnipeg Blues who have won four straight games.

During their streak, Winnipeg got past Dauphin. They also beat Selkirk and Portage and they’re both near the top of the league.

This afternoon’s game is the fifth of six straight on the road for the club.

Dauphin is currently four points up on Winnipeg for the final playoff spot.

Darnell Duff has the call of the game beginning at 1:45 with the pregame show.

Garrett Hrechka had a career night inside of Credit Union Place as the Parkland U18 Rangers kept on rolling.

Entering the game with eight goals on the season, the Dauphinte scored four times to help the Rangers beat the Kenora Thistles, 7-2.

Steven Arp, Leo Chartrand, and Brayden Kohlman all scored one goal in the game.

Hrechka added two assists for a six-point game, the first of his career.

Parkland has now won five of their last six games. They’ll look to complete the weekend sweep tomorrow against Kenora at 7:30.

The Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy Atom AA Kings are off to a great start to their weekend.

Playing in the Swan River AA Tournament, the team is 2-0.

They beat Flin Flon, 9-1 and Swan River, 10-1.
