Greg Todoruk and his foursome are just one win away from advancing to the playoff round in Stonewall.
Competing in the Viterra Championships, Greg, Darcy, Terron Stykalo, and Rob Fisher won their second straight game. On Thursday, they downed Team Freeman, 7-5. They scored two in the ninth and stole a single in the 10th to record the win.
They will now go up against Team Calvert in a qualifier game on Friday morning at 8:30. Team Calvert is one of the tournament's top seeds.
Other qualifier games will see the event's top-ranked team Reid Carruthers go up against Team Smith while Team Walter will battle Team McDonald. Team Wiebe will also go up against Team Richter for a spot in the playoff round.

They battled hard; however, they're coming back to the Parkland early.
Earning a spot to play in the Viterra Curling Championships in Stonewall, Team Toews of Dauphin was ousted from the event after an 8-6 loss on Thursday morning. After scoring three in the eighth and forcing Team Irving to just a single point in the ninth, Team Toews found themselves down by just a single point heading into the 10th end. Ultimately, Team Irving stole a single point to advance in the event.
Team Toews, consisting of Glenn, Nick Ogryzlo, Cory Toews, and Steve Procyshyn lost their first match against Team McDonald, 9-2. The foursome will now travel back to Dauphin after representing the community on the provincial stage.

The Grandview Agricultural Community Centre will be turning 69 this year which means in 2025, the heartbeat of Grandview will be turning 70 years old.
As upgrades are very much needed at the rink, a group of dedicated community members has begun raising funds for a new ice plant for the facility. New boards are also needed at the rink and they come in at a cost of about $250,000.
Raising these funds without help will be a very difficult challenge and that's where Kraft Hockeyville comes in. Every year, they give one lucky community $250,000 to upgrade their arena and Alia is hoping that the GACC will be crowned champions this year.
At this point, you're asked to share your stories and photos about the GACC.
"Like any small town in Canada, the GACC is where it's at in the winter," said Alia Marcinkow. "It's always the hub of the community and we want that to continue for many years to come, hopefully for another 70 years."
The deadline to post your stories and photos about why you love the GACC is February 17. From there, the Kraft Hockeyville committee will narrow things down and choose a group of finalists.
"It's a place not only where kids are learning leadership skills, it's a place where parents come together to chat and have a great time," ended Marcinkow. "No one is ever down at the GACC, it's a pretty special place and we would love to be crowned Kraft Hockeyville champions."
So if you've ever spent time at the GACC, head to Kraft Hockeyville to share your great stories and photos and in turn, you could become a reason why $250,000 in upgrades could be on the way to the heartbeat of Grandview in just a few short months.

The Viterra Championships are underway at the Veteran's Memorial Sports Complex and what a start Team Todoruk is off to.
The Dauphin rink won their first game of the tournament against Team Irwin, 9-7. Featuring Darcy and Greg Todoruk as well as Terron Stykalo and Rob Fisher, the foursome from Dauphin got off to quite the start in their first game as they took an 8-1 lead after six ends.
Team Irwin fought back to come within a single point heading into the 10th end without hammer; however, the Dauphin foursome put together a perfect 10th end to finish with a single point as they clinched the victory. Their next game goes on Thursday at 12:15 against Team Freeman. If they win that game, they will advance to an A-qualifier on Friday morning.
The tournament features 32 of the top Manitoba men's teams, excluding Team Dunstone, as they have already qualified for the Brier. The provincials this week is a double knockout format.

Grayson Jewell was flipping through the channels more than half a dozen years ago and he stopped when he noticed snowboarding was on.
Amazed with the tricks and the air that the athletes were getting, Jewell eventually came across Mark McMorris, who is one of the top Canadian snowboarders to ever grace the slopes, Grayson had to try it out.
Now just six years after he first hit the slopes, the young snowboarder from Dauphin is already a provincial champion and he doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon.
"It was so exciting when I was watching it and to see the guys flying through the air, it looked so cool," said Jewell. "I knew I wanted to try it out."
Now competing in the 13U age group, Grayson won a provincial championship last year after he topped his age category and it wasn't close. It was his first slopestyle provincial championship and it will always go down as one he will remember.
"It felt really good, I always push myself," said Jewell. "I want to be the best snowboarder that I can be, so it's nice to get results after all the hard work that I am putting in."
Entering this year, Jewell had a goal of defending the provincial title that he won last year and Grayson is well on his way and heading into one more provincial event, the Dauphin snowboarder is a heavy favourite. In three provincial events earlier this winter, Jewell picked up a pair of first-place finishes and he also won a bronze medal. A top-four finish at an event on March 2 will wrap up another provincial championship for the young man from Dauphin.
When speaking about his results so far this year, Grayson knows the job isn't done yet.
"I'm pretty happy with my performances so far," offered Jewell. "With that said, I believe I could push things even harder and go harder. I believe I can pull it off on March 2, that's my biggest goal right now."
Following that event, Jewell won't have much time to rest. The only day that he will get to rest between his March 2 event and his next competition will be a travel day. Thanks to a great winter season so far, Grayson has qualified for the Air Nation Junior Freestyle National Championships which take place from March 4 to 8 in Collingwood.
While competing on the national stage can be a daunting task, Grayson is no stranger to going up against the best of the best in his age group as he recently finished in sixth place at an event hosted in British Columbia. The province of B.C. is home to some of the top snowboarders in the country.
When asked how he is feeling ahead of his first national championship, Jewell is ready to make his way to Ontario to hit the slopes and give it his best.
"It feels really good, making the nationals has been a goal of mine for the last two years," ended Jewell. "It's going to be a ton of fun and it's going to be an incredible experience. To go up against snowboarders from all over the country will help me move forward as well."
So if you're a snowboarding fan, keep your eye out for Grayson as he continues to make noise and rise up the rankings.

It was a third period the Dauphin Kings will never want to replicate, but their first 40 was just enough.
With the Kings up 3-0 after 40 minutes and rolling, the Titans scored two late goals to make it close; however, they couldn't find the equalizer in a 3-2 loss against their West Division rival.
Dauphin struggled heavily in the third period to get across the finish line as they turned over dozens of pucks and failed to hit their stride, like they did over the first 40 minutes of the game. Ultimately, they did enough in the first two periods to earn themselves two points.
Madden Murray, Havryil Simchuk, and Logan Walker scored for Dauphin in the game while Cole Sheffield was once again outstanding and was the reason Dauphin won in regulation. He ended up making 32 saves in the game.
With the win, Dauphin is now just a single point behind the Blizzard for second place in the West Division and the Kings still have three games in hand. Paired with their loss and a Waywayseecappo win, the Titans are just three points ahead of the Wolverines for the fourth and final playoff spot.
The Kings return to the ice on Friday when the Wolverines come to town.

The Dauphin Clippers hockey team dressed just 12 players on Tuesday in Swan Valley and gave the Tigers all they could handle.
Trailing 3-0 after 40 minutes, Dauphin put together an incredible effort in the third period as Boston Karlson, Norman Lacquette, and Tyron Sweetman scored. However, the Tigers would score the winner as they won the all-Parkland battle, 4-3, over Dauphin.
Owen Chubka stopped 43 shots in the game as Dauphin put together a great effort despite being extremely short handed for the game. Dauphin dropped to 19-6-1 with the loss while the Tigers improved to 13-9 with the win.
Dauphin now welcomes Glenboro to town on Saturday night as the Wildcats and Clippers go to battle at 3:30 at Credit Union Place. They're then on home ice at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday against Roblin. That is the team's final game before heading to Las Vegas for a tournament and they wrap up their February league play portion of the schedule on February 23 against Crocus Plains.

It was a great weekend for teams within the Dauphin Minor Hockey Association.
The U7 Green Goblins went undefeated to win the A-side championship in Russell over the weekend. Every player on the team was extremely excited to win the Candy Cup. They beat Virden in the finals, 14-7.
Elsewhere, the U9 Dynamite had a tremendous weekend in Roblin. They downed the host in the final, 12-2, to win the C-side championship.

The Parkland U15 Rangers opened up their regular season on September 30. Carter Moncrief and Noah Smigelsky scored in that game in a loss to the league-leading Brandon Wheat Kings.
The very next day, Parkland enjoyed their first taste of victory as Dayson Martin scored three times and had one assist in a 6-5 thrilling win against the Southwest Cougars. Brayden Budolowski had a five-point game with two goals and three assists while Ben Poole also scored in the win. Xander Perih made 39 saves between the pipes.
Five months later, the Rangers have 10 wins on the campaign as they prepare for two final regular season games this weekend. On Saturday, the team is in Winkler to play Pembina Valley before returning home on Sunday afternoon to play the Eastman Selects in their final game.
Parkland will enter this weekend with losses in four of their last five games. The team is coming off a 10-4 loss against the Thrashers Blue on Sunday afternoon in Swan River, two days after they posted a 5-3 win over the Norman Northstars. Parkland has also lost seven of their last nine games.
Despite those struggles, Matt Kustra has still been impressed with the team's work ethic.
"We are still working hard and giving a great effort, we battle right until the end of every game," said Kustra. "As long as we never quit and battle, that's what matters. It's more important to not quit rather than look at the wins and losses. I'm proud of how our guys are sticking with the process and giving it their all."
Brayden Budolowski and Dayson Martin have led the way offensively for Parkland this year. Budolowski has 28 goals in 29 games and 46 goals to average 1.59 points per game. Martin; meanwhile, has 25 goals in 27 games to go along with 19 assists and 44 points.
"Both those guys are hungry, they have been playing together for a few months and they're always a threat when on the ice," offered Kustra. "It's pretty impressive to watch what they can do offensively."
Noah Smigelsky is third in team scoring with 43 points and Kustra says he has been outstanding this year and has a very bright future. Other than the trio leading the club offensively, Parkland has six other players who have recorded at least 10 points this year.
There's no doubt that the Rangers possess some top-end talent offensively, but Kustra knows the club needs to sharpen up defensively.
"Our big focus is play in our defensive zone, we need to cut back on the goals that we're allowing," said Kustra. "You're not going to win many hockey games when you're giving up as many goals as we are at times."
Parkland is scoring on average just less than 4.2 goals per game; however, they are allowing 5.8 goals per game. As the regular season continues to wind down, Kustra is pleased that he was allowed to lead the program.
"I truly see it as a real privilege, it's not every day that someone gets an opportunity to lead a team and help develop young talent," said Kustra. "I have enjoyed every single minute from being with the guys to being around the parents. I couldn't have asked for a better group to be a part of. It's been a great ride."
Following play this weekend, playoff hockey will be up next for Parkland as they will play in the consolation bracket of the league playoffs.
"There is a lot of excitement, the teams that will play in the consolation side, we know that we can beat them," ended Kustra. "It's looking like we will play Southwest or Yellowhead. We have beaten Southwest twice and we split with Yellowhead, so we know we can compete and win. We have to finish off strong this upcoming weekend and then we will get ready for what's next for our group, everyone will be ready for the challenge."

Team Forsyth is just recently coming off a championship at the Neepawa Curling Club.
On Sunday night, they achieved one of their major goals for the season as they were crowned champions as the Parkland Super League of Curling came to a close for the season. Wrapping up the season at the Dauphin Curling Club, Kyle and his foursome put together a great Sunday to cap off the championship run.
In the semifinals, Kyle and his crew beat Team Rob Fisher, 7-4. Then later in the final going up against Team Glenn Toews, Team Forsyth was not to be denied as they racked up nine points in a 9-5 title-clinching win. In the final, Team Forsyth was up by a single point in the eighth end without the hammer and they found a way to steal three points.
"It felt great to win it again," said Forsyth. "We had two really good games on Sunday and found the way to get the job done. It was nice to steal in the eighth end in the final."
It was the team's fifth time winning the league and they will be back next year in hopes of making it six. The foursome features Kyle, Jarvis Whyte, Trent Hill, and Cody Hill.
