The Ste. Rose Celtics varsity girls volleyball team is putting together quite the season on the court.
Ranked third in the most recent power rankings in the 'A' classification, the Celtics did not drop a single set as they defended their home court. 10 teams began the tournament vying for a banner, the Celtics came out on top.
After a perfect round-robin that saw the team win all 10 sets they played, the Celtics received a bye into the semi-finals. They made quick work of Shoal Lake in that game before hammering MacGregor in the gold medal match.
Greg Anstett is the team's assistant coach and is pleased with how the weekend went.
"I'm very happy for the girls, they have worked hard all season," said Anstett. "I'm very glad they're seeing success."
The team has won three tournaments this season.

The Dauphin Clippers junior varsity boys volleyball team pulled off some impressive upsets on Saturday to win their home tournament.
Hosting a four-team event, the Clippers won one of their three round-robin matches to enter the playoff portion of the event in third place. Going up against a very good Goose Lake Raiders team from Roblin in the semi-finals, Dauphin found a way to get the job done in a straight set, 25-21, 25-18 victory.
Then playing the top-ranked Swan Valley Tigers, who were perfect up until playing Dauphin in the final, the Clippers won a hard fought match in three sets. Scores were 18-25, 25-12 and 15-10.
Goose Lake would beat Grandview to finish in third place.

The Dauphin Clippers have been scoring at a crazy pace this season and it continued on Saturday afternoon at Credit Union Place.
Playing their fourth game of the season, the Clippers took it to the Boissevain Broncos in a 15-0 win. Just a day after scoring 10 goals during their Every Child Matters game against Sandy Bay, the Clippers once again filled the net early and often.
Ethan Carnegie had the hot stick for Dauphin completing a hat-trick while Jesse Hockridge, Ethan Zalischuk, Noah Hanneson, and Boston Karlson all scored two goals apiece. Scoring singles were Sully Fox, Riley Durston, Ronin Mouck and Josh Yakielashek.
Dauphin (4-0) has scored 40 goals this season, averaging 10 per game. Their next game is next Saturday when they welcome the Vincent Massey Vikings #2 to Credit Union Place.

There is a new leader in the MGEU West Division and they're from the City of Sunshine.
The Dauphin Kings had to claw back against a stingy Winnipeg Freeze team and Cayden Glover scored the game-winner as the Kings downed the Freeze, 4-3. Dauphin found themselves down 3-1 against the Freeze just more than two minutes into the second.
Needing to step things up, Dauphin did just that. Ashton Paul (4) cut the deficit to one after 40 minutes. Then in the third period, Dauphin took over when Winnipeg got into penalty trouble. Matt Thomas (4) ripped home a shot 4:20 into the third to tie it and less than five minutes later (14) scored on the man advantage to give Dauphin the lead and they never looked back.
Cole Sheffield made 32 saves in the win. Dauphin (11-4) head to Selkirk on Saturday night, Darnell Duff has the broadcast on 730CKDM.

He's leading the league in scoring and on Friday, he was the hero.
Quinten Fisk scored his 15th of the season less than two minutes into overtime as the Parkland U-18 Rangers earned their ninth of the season in a thrilling 4-3 win over the Pembina Valley Hawks. Dayson Martin and Nathan Miller had the assists.
Brayden Budolowski (3), Ryzlie Nepinak (3) and Ryder Gardner (2) scored for Parkland in the win. Kyle Pelletier turned away 30 shots in the game to record the win.
Parkland (9-3) will play the Wild on Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 1:30, both of which are at Credit Union Place.

The Dauphin Clippers have won three straight games to open the season.
In dominating fashion in front of a great crowd for their Every Child Matters game, Dauphin scored five goals in the third period as they hammered Sandy Bay, 10-2.
It was a complete team effort as Dauphin dominated from start to finish.
Julien Lopez led the way with a pair of goals while Ethan Carnegie, Noah Hanneson, Thomas Schmidt, Boston Karlson, Jesse Hockridge, Jorden Braun, Ronin Mouck, and Layne Wolfenden all scored a goal apiece for Dauphin.

He dons the Blue & White as a member of the Parkland U-18 Rangers and he will don the Blue & White at the junior level.
The Dauphin Kings had a busy Thursday by signing five players to Letter of Intents (LOI) for the 2025-26 season, one of which is dominating the Manitoba U-18 AAA Hockey League. Quinten Fisk of Dauphin was one of the commits.
Fisk is on fire this season. He leads the league in points with 23, 15 of which are goals. Among players who have played multiple games, Quinten is the only player in the league averaging more than two points per game (2.09). The Dauphin product has helped the Rangers win eight of their 11 games this year. They host Pembina Valley on Friday before welcoming the Winnipeg Wild to town on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
The next player to put pen to paper was Shea Rollason. He was selected eighth overall by the Kings in the 2024 MJHL Draft. In 10 outings this season with the Winnipeg Bruins, Shea has eight goals and 10 assists.
The third player is 2008-born Sage Dela Cruz. He was outstanding during the Kings' camp this year and is having a strong season with the Bruins, scoring four times and adding four helpers in nine games. You can see Dela Cruz and Rollason on January 18 and 19 when the Bruins come to town.
Dauphin's final two commitments on Thursday were both defencemen, starting with Brady Bell of the Winnipeg Wild. Selected 35th overall in 2024, Bell has eight points this season. You can see him in action this weekend when the Wild are in town on Saturday and Sunday.
Brody Wytinck is Dauphin's final commitment announced. He's currently playing in an academy at Pilot Mound with the Buffaloes. Selected 34th overall, Brody has had an outstanding season to date with four goals and eight assists in eight games.

The Dauphin Clippers hockey team is on a roll to start the season.
After opening the campaign with an 8-1 drubbing against Virden, the Clippers put up a seven-spot against the Neepawa Tigers. Come Friday, the team will hit ice for their third game of the year as they host the Sandy Bay Badgers. And while two big points are up for grabs, Friday's contest will be bigger than just a game.
For the second year in a row, Norman Lacquette has organized 'Every Child Matters'. This event is about bringing everyone together. Norman grew up in Mallard and once moving to Dauphin, had to deal with many racist remarks and all he truly wants is for everyone to come together.
"Racism is something that has impacted my life, I was bullied. Some days I came home crying and there were many days that I didn't want to go to school," said Lacquette. "I want to spread awareness. There is so much hate and that upsets me. We need to have the ability to work together to make our community great."
Norman says he loves Dauphin but he knows some people are hurting.
Friday's game against Sandy Bay will begin with ceremonies at 12:45 p.m. followed by puck drop 15 minutes later. Schools in Dauphin have been invited as Credit Union Place is expected to be packed for the annual game.
This is Norman's second year with the Clippers and he's thrilled to represent the Green & White.
"It means a lot to me to wear the school logo on my chest, I'm very passionate about it," said Lacquette. "We take great pride in hitting the ice to win hockey games and bring a championship banner to our gym. We have an incredible fanbase behind us."
While Sandy Bay (0-0) has yet to hit the ice for a game, Friday's contest marks the start of a busy month for the team as they'll play eight times in November. Dauphin (2-0) will also play eight league games in November, four of which come at Credit Union Place.
"We're looking very strong to start the year, we have a great group of guys and we're close in the dressing room," ended Lacquette. "I believe we can achieve special things this year."
The Vincent Massey Vikings have set the pace so far with nine straight wins to start the season, scoring 74 goals.

Ethan Everett has loved hockey for as long as he can remember.
Everett, of Dauphin, played with the Dauphin Clippers last season, and while he wasn't necessarily expecting to be a consistent point producer, that's exactly what he was. In 27 regular-season games, Everett scored five times and had 15 points.
He then posted one assist in three playoff games.
"I was pretty pleased with how it went, I wasn't expecting much going into the season when it came to personal stats," said Everett. "I was just happy to help the team have a good season, being a Clipper was an incredible opportunity, and meant a lot to me."
As a new season has arrived, the 18-year-old from Dauphin has taken the next step. Ethan is now playing in the Capital Region Junior Hockey League with the Lundar Falcons. Everett made the team out of tryouts and is pleased with his progress over the past two years.
"It felt awesome to make the team. After tryouts, the coaching staff called me into the room and said they wanted me to stick around," offered Everett. "They liked what they saw, I improved from the start of camp and that's my goal for this year, just to continue improving."
The Falcons are in a battle for first place with six wins in eight games this year. They're tied with St. Malo for second and are just three points back of Beausejour for first place.
"There is a high standard within the organization, you always have to be giving your best, no time off," offered Everett. "It's pretty exciting to be a part of a team with a winning culture, great start for our group."
Ethan, who grew up playing within Dauphin Minor, has played in three games with the Falcons.
"I feel as if I could have done better in my three games, it's been a learning process," continued Everett. "With that said, I'm working hard and putting everything I have into helping this team. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season."
Ethan recalls his first shift with the Falcons.
"Once I got onto the ice and touched the puck, all of the nerves went away," offered Everett. "Especially when I laid my first hit, it just felt like I belonged and felt comfortable on the ice."
The Falcons will look for their eighth win of the season on Saturday when they host the Selkirk Fishermen.

Every time he hits the ice, there are cheers. When he scores, those cheers intensify and when it's time to head back home to the Skownan First Nation, he's welcomed back with open arms and congratulated for his success.
Kingston Catcheway is a rising star in the community. When he was four, he started making the nearly one-hour journey from Skownan to Winnipegosis to play in their minor hockey association. After playing a few years with the Tigers, Kingston started playing in Dauphin and today, the star from Skownan is playing all over the Parkland region and province.
"It was a sport that I knew I wanted to play when I was young," said Catcheway. "I love being on the ice and making new friends."
Kingston is now one of the youngest players on the Parkland U-15 Rangers team. They opened their season with a 4-3 win against the Yellowhead Chiefs on September 28. While the team hasn't enjoyed as much success as they would have hoped to in terms of wins and losses since that victory, it continues to grow and make strides in the right direction.
For Kingston, he's proud to be a Ranger in his first year of AAA hockey.
"It feels great to represent my home community and be a Parkland Ranger," offered Catcheway. "I'm getting a lot of great experience, I get to play alongside some awesome teammates and go up against some of the best U-15 players in the province, it's been great for me."
With a population on-reserve of about 750 people, Catcheway, who loves watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, can feel the love from so many in his hometown.
"I feel so much support every day," commented Catcheway. "I appreciate it as well, it feels good to know that so many people are cheering me on and following my journey."
Kingston and the rest of his Ranger teammates went to Regina over the weekend to play in the Graham Tuer U-15 Challenge. Going up against teams from Airdrie, Warman, Prairie Storm, and Central Plains, the Rangers showed signs of brilliance throughout the tournament. Catcheway hit the scoresheet scoring one of the Rangers' three goals.
"It was a fun weekend, great to be on the road with the guys," continued Catcheway.
In seven league games this season with Parkland, Kingston has two goals, three assists, and ten penalty minutes. In addition to creating waves in his debut year of AAA hockey, the Skownan star made waves on the international scene earlier this year when he played with Team World at the 2024 Prospects by Sports Illustrated World Cup of Hockey in Toronto.
The tournament features teams from the United States, Italy, Finland, China, Czechia, and Sweden. Scouts from all over North America are at all games and Kingston made Team World after a successful tryout in Brandon.
It was an event that Catcheway will never forget.
"It was incredible, it was an honour to get that opportunity," ended Catcheway. "The hockey was amazing and I made some lifelong friends, I'm so happy that I was given the chance to play and represent my community and country."
If you are a hockey fan in the Parkland, keep your eyes out for Kingston Catcheway who is excelling at the game he loves and living the dream in the process.

A pair of Parkland Stars earned themselves a crown over the weekend in Winnipeg.
Playing in the Heather Curling Club's Manitoba Junior Curling Tour event, Team Cassidy Dundas reigned supreme. Dundas of Onanole is skipping a team that includes Lauren Evason, Eryn Czirfusz and Tessa Terrick of McCreary.
They had a perfect weekend winning all five of their matches to claim the championship. It was domination from start to finish as they opened up their bonspiel with a 6-5 win and never looked back. They captured the title with a 6-3 win over Team Hayward in the final, a game that saw Team Dundas take a 5-0 lead after four ends.
The team will next play in the Kyle Flett Memorial from November 7-11.
