The Parkland Rangers got back at the Winnipeg Thrashers on Saturday night. Earlier this month the Thrashers defeated the Rangers 3-2 at CUP in a very close game.
This time the Rangers were the victors.
The Rangers won 5-4 over the Thrashers in a shootout thanks to goals from Dauphin's Liwiski brothers Mark and Andrew.
Mark Liwiski opened the scoring for the Rangers in the first, Dustin Mozden extended the Rangers lead by adding another before the period expired. Jaeger Lapointe assisted on both.
The Thrashers responded with two goals of their own to start the second, but the Parkland answered back with goals from Dustin Mozden again, and Taron Topham.
Winnipeg added the book ends to the second period with another two scores.
Quinn Munro made 44 saves on 44 shots.

The Dauphin Kings were not so fortunate in Selkirk. The Kings are now 0-2 on the season against Selkirk after falling to the Steelers 4-1 on Saturday.
Conner Barley opened the scoring ofr Selkirk in the first. The goal was the lone marker of the first.
Selkirk put two power play goals on the board during the second period in another penalty-filled game for the Kings.
Riese Gaber of Gilbert Plains responded for the Kings at 4:04 in the third, Matty Greening assisted on the goal.
Conner Barley added his second goal of the night in the last minute of play to cap off the night for the Steelers.
The Kings look to get some relief at home this week when they host Winkler on November 4th.

A bad first period cost the Dauhpin Kings in Winkler.
The Flyers came out fast and furious, scoring all the goals they would need in just the first period en route to a 3-1 win.
Brandon Holtby got a big piece of the first two shots, but some unlucky bounces resulted in the puck just landing over the Kings goal line.
Halfway through the second period Darren Gisti put the Kings on the board, putting his great shot to use, rifling a puck off the top bar and in.
The Kings are off to Selkirk Saturday to finish off a five game road swing.

The Parkland Rangers fell to the Eastman Selects 7-2 during their Pink the Rink night at Credit Union Place.
Mackenzie Hunter opened the scoring for the Rangers, but it was all Eastman from there.
The Selects struck three times in the first, and twice in each the second and third.
Dustin Mozden responded for the Rangers after the 4th Selects goal. Dauphin's Mark Liwiski assisted on both Rangers goals.
The Rangers are at home again Saturday evening when they host the Winnipeg Thrashers. Game time is 7:30 at CUP.

The MJHL has conducted a further breakdown of an earlier report from the Canadian Junion Hockey League stating that 144 CJHL alumni are currently listed on NHL rosters.
Of those 144, eight are MJHL grads: Matt Calvert (Winkler/Colorado), Joel Edmunson (Dauphin/St. Louis), Michael Ferland (Beasejour/Calgary), Ryan Garbutt (Winnipeg South Blues/Anaheim), Travis Hamonic (Winnipeg Saints/NY Islanders), Cody McLeod (Wayway/Colorado), Jordin Tootoo (OCN/Chiacgo), and Travis Zajac (St. James/New Jersey).
Every NHL team has at least one CJHL grad in their lineup, with seven NHL teams sporting seven or more. St. Louis has 9 former CJHLers in their lineup.
Each of the ten leagues under the CJHL umbrella has at least one alumni in the NHL currently.

The 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge pre-tournament begins today in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
Grandview's Koby Morrisseau, Fowarren's Dawson Barteaux, and Yorkton's Brett Kemp are all in the Soo for the tournament, each on a different team Canada. Kemp will wear a black Team Canada jersey, Morrisseau landed on Team Canada White's roster, and Barteaux will play for Team Canada Red.
Pre-tournament play begins today with four games, the official tournament gets underway Sunday.
Morrisseau will get things started for Canada when Team White takes on Russia at 3:00pm.
Later tonight at 6:30 both Team Canada Red, and Team Canada Black will take to the ice at once, though in different venues.
Team Black and Brett Kemp will play Sweden, while Dawson Barteaux will get to experience a highly-contested rivalry when Team Canada Red faces off with the United States.

The Dauphin Kings visited the Dauphin Fire Department Wednesday evening.
The Kings divided into groups of three and took to the course set up by Dauphin Fire Chief and Kings Director of Billets Cam Abrey.
The players had to carry a 160lb. dummy, move a large tire by hitting it with a sledgehammer, then carry two large buckets back towards the fire station. And that's just the first half of the course.
After that the players took a fire hose, walk forward with it and shoot at the corners of a hockey net. After that they had to roll up a separate hose, then climb a ladder and ring a bell to finish.
The event was done to create create chemistry, communication and overall make for a tighter-knit group of players.
It was a perfect opportunity for new arrivals Ashton Clark and Howard Yawit, who were acquired from Portage Tuesday, to get to know and begin working with their new teammates.
The Kings are back in action on Friday when they're on the road to Winkler.

Another local hockey player has had a setback in the major leagues due to injury.
Grandview's Ryan Pulock has broken his foot and will be out 4-6 weeks.
He broke the foot while blocking a shot in his first call-up game for the Isles this season against Arizona.
Roblin's Jayce Hawryluk has also been on the sidelines after breaking his hand during a preseason game with the Florida Panthers against Washington.

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League has opened a web store just in time for Christmas.
A variety of MJHL branded hats, shirts, and hoodies are available for anywhere from $15-45.
MJHL branded gear can be purchased HERE.
But if you'd rather support your hometown team, the Dauphin Kings have plenty of merchandise available at home games this season including hats, shirts, and golf shirts, and you don't have to worry about them being shipped in time for the holidays.
Currently the MJHL store has no merchandise from any of its 11 franchises. The best way to get gear with your favourite team's logo on it is to go out and support them and buy merch from an in-arena vendor.

The Dauphin Kings have completed a trade with the Portage Terriers.
Dauphin sends Kirklan Lycar and Kelby Picard to the Terriers in exchange for forwards Ashton Clark, Howard Yawit, and Matthew Pitchenese. More on sports Wednesday.

The Grandview Comets have released their 2016-17 NCHL Schedule.
The campaign kicks off in Rivers when the Comets take on the Jets November 5th. The Comets play their first home game November 12th against the Miniota-Elkhorn C-Hawks at 7:00.

The Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame has announced their 2017 inductees and two local teams are in the mix.
The Ebb and Flow Lakers (1990-96) are honoured as the Small Community Team inductee, while the Gilbert Plains Legion Bantams (1965-68) will be added to the Special Category.
The 21st annual induction banquet takes place June 3, 2017 in Morden.
The pride of Ebb and Flow First Nation, the Ebb and Flow Lakers have been an integral part of their community. The early 90s Lakers were a dominant tournament team with an estimates .900 in Manitoba, and in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and even Minnesota.
Minnesota is where the Lakers achieved their greatest success in 1995: a win in the North American Indigenous Games final 4-1 in Blaine, MN over a state selected Minnesota team. Archie McIvor pitched a three-hitter for the Lakers in the win.
The Gilbert Plains Legion Bantam dominated bantam ball in Manitoba and Western Canada for a four-year period during the 1960s. Coached my MB Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Mel Stoughton, the team won five Manitoba baseball titles in four years, and three Western Canada championships.
The team advanced to a Bantam 'A' classification after winning the Manitoba and Western Canada titles as a 'B' team in 1965 and 1966, and 1967 provincial title. In 1967 they played in the 'A' playoffs, winning the province, but were finalists in the Western Canada title.
In 1968 they captured the Manitoba and Western Canada Championships.
