The Steinbach Pistons are the first MJHL club to reach the ten win mark this season.

Steinbach were the first to find the board, with Bradley Schoonbaert scoring just 59 seconds into the game. He would score again in the first period to take a 2-0 lead into the second.

The Kings answered back with two goals in the second as Keaton Leininger scored his third of the season and Matty Greening notched his second on the year.

Two minutes later Dawson Bacon was assessed a questionable holding penalty, former King Landon Plett scored the game-winning-goal on the ensuing power play 25 seconds in.

The Pistons added an insurance marker with 50 seconds left in the frame courtesy of Julien Koga.

Brandon Holtby started the third period and surrendered no goals.

The Kings now look ahead to a road game Tuesday in Waywayseecappo to play the winless Wolverines, before a double-header in Steinbach next weekend as the Kings will play the rest of October on the road. Their next home game is Nov. 4 against Winkler.

The Dauphin Kings were shutout by the Portage Terriers Friday night at PCU Centre.

The Kings held the Terriers off the board in the first, despite giving Portage four and two minute power plays.

Tensions started boil over in the third period as three fights occured. Keaton Leininger, Austin Douglas, and Trevor Selk all dropped the gloves for the Kings.

The Kings are next in action against Steinbach at home Saturday, their last home game of October.

The majority of Dauphin Minor Hockey Team rosters have been released with the exception of Initiation and Bantam age groups.

Practices begin October 17th, 18th, and 19th for Novice to PeeWee age groups.

The Clippers will hold their Ochre River Duck Race Fundraiser on October 22nd, pushed back a week from its original start due to recent flooding.

The Dauphin Kings surrendered the first goal of the game to the Swan Valley Stampeders. A cause for concern for the Kings, who were 0-6 when the opposing team scores first.

The Kings decided to skew that stat by using three goal first and third periods to scream to a 6-1 win.

Brandon Holtby was solid for the Kings in net, stopping 50 of 51 shots sent his way.

Chartrand kept at the top of the Kings scoring list by evening the score for the Kings. Exactly two minutes later the big man, Austin Douglas jumped up on the play and fired his first MJHL goal and game-winner off the post and in. Keaton Leininger scored the insurance goal for the Kings to leave the first with a 3-1 lead.

In the third Douglas scored again, and another defenseman decided to join in the party when Carson Romeril fired a blast from the point. Kyle Oleksiuk added his fourth goal of the season in the last minute of the game.

Douglas, Oleksiuk, Leininger, Hore, and Kochanski each had two point nights. Kochanski joined the Kings late last week, and now has 3 points in as many games.

The win breaks a four game skid for the Kings and puts them at 2-6 on the season. They're back in action Friday when they travel to Portage. Tune into CKDM at 7:20 for the Parkland Source for Sports Pregame Show with Sports Director Dane Nichol.

The 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge runs Oct 27-Nov 5th in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.

The Westman High School Hockey League Schedule is out.

The Kings face off with the Swan Valley Stampeders tonight for the third time this season.

A member of the Parkland Gators has been chosen to compete for Team Manitoba at the North American Indigenous Games.

Brendan Cruickshanks of the Gators will represent Team Manitoba at the Games in Toronto next July 16-23.

Cruickshanks says he's thankful for the training the Gators have given him to reach this once in a lifetime opportunity.

As the Manitoba Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Council and North American Indigenous Games Team Manitoba do not receive funding for athletes, so athletes must rely entirely on sponsorship and fundraising to help pay for team uniforms, travel, accommodations, and meals.

Reit-Syd Equipment of Dauphin has stepped forward as one sponsor for Cruickshanks. He's still looking for more funding to cover costs as it's approximately $1700-2000 per athlete to participate.

If you would like to sponsor Brendan or would like more information about sponsorship, contact his mother Brenda at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Jeremy Leipsic of the Portage Terriers have been named the Recycle Everywhere MJHL Player of the Week.

Tyler Jubenvill of Gilbert Plain's had a goal and four assists for the Winkler Flyers over the weekend, an effort that came up just short of Leipsic's.

Jordan Bochinski of the Steinbach Pistons was also a runner up.
