A number of Parkland and Manitoba baseball teams were competing in provincial competitions this weekend.
The Parkland Predators won gold at the U18 fastball provincials in Winnipeg. They defeated Varsity View 14-3 in the final, only losing one game along the way.
Russell and Grandview were competing in the mosquito provincials in Brandon, Ste. Rose was in Rosenort in the PeeWee age group, and Grandview's bantam team was in Ile de Chene. None of those teams finished top 1 or 2 in their pools and did not move on.
The Manitoba U17 select baseball team was one of 96, and only one of two Canadian teams at the Gopher Classic in Minneapolis, Minnesota this weekend.
Will Hlady, Brandon Racette, and Dauphin-born Rheal Letain were representing the Parkland on the team. The team finished 1-4 at the tournament, but they played a tight, one-run game against their pool's eventual winner, Omaha Burke, NE.

Five Dauphin Clippers boys and girls rugby players were in Saskatoon this weekend playing for the Westman Rush in a regional tournament, also featuring teams from Saskatchewan and Eastman.
Brayden Tomchuk, Riley Keith, Zane Brindle, Travis Howdle, and Branden McCrady helped the U16 Rush team to win gold. They defeated Saskatchewan 31-17 in the final.
Tomchuk and McCrady were named MVPs for their tournament performances.
Monique Coffey, Kaylee Dick, Taylor Davidson, Courtney Zurba, and Kaila Stratuliak were there competing for U16 and U18 Rush girls teams.

The Gilbert Plains Country Club held their Men's Open yesterday.
Connor Shaw won the championship with a score of 73, Scott Lynxleg, and Dale Murray were right behind with scores of 75.
Closest to the hole was Steve Hewey who's ball landed 33 inches away from the pin on hole 4.
The Dauphin Lake Golf Resort held their women's open on Saturday and their Junior Open on Sunday.
Marni Zamzow won the championship flight with a score of 87, just one stroke ahead of second place Lindsay Tabin. Just behind them in third was Gaylene Stoughton who shot a 90.
In the Junior Open in the 9 and Under category Hayden Shtykalo had the lowest score followed by Lamder Shangreaux, and Easton Odut.
In the 12 and Under category Eric Prokopowich had the best round of the day with Braydyn Tkachuk, and Ben Talbot.
In the 13 and Over boys age group Devon Benson was the winner with Luke Davidson, and Kayden Bodnar not far behind.
And in the 13 and Over girls group Lane Prokopowich had the strongest performance with Storm Karlson in 2nd.

Several Provincial Single A tournaments are taking place and the 17U team is competing at a tournament in Minnesota.

The Dauphin Kings have added 6'5 210lb defenseman Calvin Pugh.
The Minnesota native spent last year playing for Edina High School Hornets of the USHS.
Edina is located just outside of Minneapolis.
Pugh has registered 3 points in 39 games over two seasons with the Hornets.
