From Dauphin to Austria, and now to Germany. That's been the journey Dauphin's Lisa Hale-Menard and Ray Baker have been on as they are currently in Geising, Germany playing in a CCT Mixed Doubles Curling Tournament.

Hale-Menard and Baker are currently looking to increase their point total as they look to secure a spot in the 2018 Canadian Mixed Doubles Trials, that will take place in Portage in early 2018.

Last weekend, the duo were in Austria for another bonspiel, and they finished in fourth place but ended up beating last year's World Champions before bowing out in the semifinals.

"We had a great weekend last weekend," said Ray Baker. "We kind of faltered the last couple of games. Mixed Doubles is a weird game because everyone's confidence and momentum can change so quickly out there."

The team played their first round-robin game earlier today and fell to Switzerland's Stephanie Wild, and Daniel Gubler, 6-5.

"We just do our best to get out there and learn the ice," said Baker. "That game came down to the last shot. The ice is a bit different out here, so we have to learn from it, and use it to our advantage next game."

Hale-Menard and Baker will play four more round-robin games before the playoffs.
