Dauphin's Brayden Tomchuk was in Regina this past weekend as he took part in the U18 Rugby Canada Team West tryouts.
"The tryouts were really fun, and it was a great learning experience," said Tomchuk. "It was intense, I'm really sore from the whole camp, but I loved it."
This past weekend's camp attracted some of the best under 18 rugby players in Western Canada.
"It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but it's only the first camp and there are a few left," said Tomchuk. "I think my odds of making the team are alright, but I don't know for sure yet."
Tomchuk took a lot out of taking part in the camp.
"I learned that I wasn't a good tackler, and at the camp, I learned how to become a lot better at it," said Tomchuk. "I also learned how I can make myself better off the field as well."
Now Tomchuk will return to the DRCSS to play for the Clippers Rugby 7's team, while he waits for a call to see if he advances to the next stage of tryouts which will take place from November 3-6 in Vancouver.
