It's been a tough start to the Canadian Rugby Championships for Carly Ryz, as her and the rest of the U18 Prairie Blizzard team lost their first two games, handily.

Ryz is one of three Dauphin girls that are on the Prairie Blizzard, (Kalee Dyck), (Gabby Robbins), but despite losing the first two games, that doesn't mean the team's spirits are down.

"I have been enjoying it, but obviously we took a couple of losses," said Ryz. "But, it's not holding us back, we have a game this afternoon and we're going into it pretty strong, and we're looking forward to it."

The Blizzard lost their first game against Alberta, 41-0, and followed that up with a loss against Nova Scotia, 48-12.

"We've talked about a lot of things, and we've been working on the things that we have to improve on," said Ryz. "Our mindset is different going into this game, and I think that's going to help us."

Earlier on the week, Kaila Stratuliak was slated to head to Calgary to play in the Championships, but she sustained an injury which held her back from competing.

"Gabby, Kalee and myself are all playing for Kaila," said Ryz. "We miss her a lot and we wish she could be here with us playing."

Ryz, Gabby, and Kalee will continue their Championships at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon against Quebec.
