The Parkland Rangers kicked off 2017 on the right foot with a 5-4 overtime win.

Rangers Captain Bradyn Smelski opened the scoring for the Rangers in the first and added another goal in the second period.

 

The Rangers led the Southwest Cougars 4-1 after 40 minutes, but a three goal third period from the Cougars forced overtime.

Bradyn Smelski was the hero in overtime. His third goal of the night came on the powerplay, giving the Rangers the win.

Carter Cockburn and Mark Liwiski also had goals for the Rangers in the win. Nicholas Arp earned the win in net, stopping 26 of 30 shots. 

 

The Rangers next game is Saturday at home against the Winnipeg Wild.
