One of the men instrumental in making the OCN Blizzard a reality doesn't think the team is done just yet. Boh Kubrakovich says he doesn't think it's over and he doesn't think the Blizzard are going to go anywhere.
"There's just way too much pride up there, and northern Manitoba needs to make sure that team doesn't go anywhere. You know, whether it's owned by OCN or whether it's run by a board from The Pas and OCN combined, or members from other big businesses in northern Manitoba, that team can't go anywhere... but it has to be sustained. It has to be self-reliant."
The OCN First Nation said in a press release this week that after careful deliberation with administration and finance representatives in OCN, the Blizzard would cease operations after this season.
Kubrakovich says it's time for investors and investments to come to the team.
An announcement from the Blizzard's board is expected today.
