Parkland Rangers Midget Coach Doug Hedley will be returning to the MJHL's OCN Blizzard.
Parkland Rangers Midget coach Doug Hedley is returning to his days of Jr. A coaching.
This won't be Doug's first stint with the Blizzard, he served as head coach of the program from 2006-2009, before heading west to coach the BCHL's Quesnel Millionaires.
When Quesnel was sold and relocated to Chilliwack, Hedley headed back to Dauphin where he's coached the Parkland Midget Rangers the last couple years.
Hedley is looking forward to returning to The Pas.
"They're a team that I think have an opportunity to do something next year," Hedley said. He also remarked the number of returning players was promising.
When Hedley left OCN in 2009, the team had 18 returning players which he missed out on.
OCN won't have 18 players returning for the 2016-17 season, but regardless Hedley is returning with the intention of finishing what he left off
"It's unfinished business."
The opportunity to work with people he has familiarity also factored into Hedley's decision to return.
Hedley has almost 20 years of Jr. A coaching experience. He's the former head coach of the Dauphin Kings.
Current Dauphin Kings head coach and GM Marc Berry says he's excited about the idea of coaching against Hedley this season and thinks the two bench bosses will enjoy it.
