New rule changes could change scoring in Western Hockey League.
The Western Hockey League has announced several rule changes today.
One of the biggest changes is a puck going off a skate outside of the goal crease will be ruled a goal to reduce reviews over the amount of kicked-in goals.
As the current wording of the rule stands, that means kicked-in goals from outside the goal crease would be considered a good goal.
The WHL will also make use of hybrid icing for the upcoming season.
Another change requires all WHL arenas to be equipped with Hawk-Eye Innovations video replay systems.
