It was a sluggish start but when they hit their stide, they never looked back.

Dauphin scored five unanswered goals as they downed their Parkland rival, Swan Valley Stampeders on Tuesday night, 5-2, at Credit Union Place. It was Dauphin's 24th win of the season and they've now scored 18 goals in their last two games.

Swan Valley came out firing with 10 of the first 11 shots in the game and Dobie Unrau and Ben Groome scored for the Stampeders to take a 2-0 lead for the road team. Dauphin started to hit their stride with about eight minutes left in the first and ended up with 10 shots in the opening period, racking up nine of the final 13 in the period.

That's when Dauphin started firing things up offensively as the second period started, Ty Pratte opened up the scoring with his second of the season and his were followed up by Naaman Hofer's fifth of the season and Cayden Glovers 28th of the year. Glover's goal was scored on the man advantage as Dauphin took a 3-2 lead into the third period.

Gavin Nemis doubled up the lead on a beautiful breakaway shot with less than 10 minutes left and the newest King, Nolan Masson iced the game into an empty net as the 19-year-old, acquired at the Trade Deadline, scored his first as a King in his first game with the team.

With the win, Dauphin is now alone atop the MGEU West Division with a record of 24-9-1. They're two points up on the Northern Manitoba Blizzard, with four games in hand. Paired with this loss from Swan Valley and Virden beating Selkirk, the Oil Capitals are now 10 points up on them. Virden holds the fourth and final playoff spot.
