It was quite the weekend for Jayce Legaarden.
The Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) champion from Grandview helped the Winkler Flyers win two of their three games over the weekend. Jayce recorded back-to-back two-goal performances in two games against Swan Valley on Friday and Saturday, and the team won both games. Thanks to his hot play, Jayce is one of the Three Stars of the Week, presented by the MJHL.
On Sunday, Jayce recorded Winkler's lone goal in a 2-1 defeat against the Kings at Credit Union Place. Jayce is tied for 19th in league scoring this year with 10 goals and four assists, averaging 1.08 points per game. The defending champions are tied for third in the MGEU East Division with nine wins and four losses and they're six points back of Selkirk for first.
Jayce will look to keep his hot season going on Friday night when the team embarks on another road trip to play the Northern Manitoba Blizzard at the Roy H. Johnston Arena on Friday and Saturday. Winkler is ranked 15th in the Canadian Junior Hockey League's (CJHL) Top 20 rankings.
