Another weekend, another trophy for the Layne Stars fastpitch team.
Playing in the Fishing Lake First Nation tournament over the weekend, Layne Stars ran the table, opening with a win against The Rez from Saskatchewan.
En route to winning the title, the Stars also beat Browntown and in the championship final, they downed The Rez, 9-2. Norman Lacquette was one of the team's most productive players throughout the tournament bringing in the most runs and the winning run in the semi-final.
The team will now wrap up their season this weekend in Peguis. The prize for first place in that event is $10,000.
