It took the Dauphin Kings more than a period to get going on Tuesday night but when they did, they never looked back.
Playing in their fourth preseason game, the Kings downed the Swan Valley Stampeders, 5-1, as they earned their first preseason regulation win and second overall after beating Neepawa last week.
Rylan Gage was outstanding for the Kings the entire game and had a beautiful assist to Devun Olfert late in the third period. Olfert had the hot stick as he scored three times in the victory. Jack Bechard had another beautiful goal scoring his second in as many games for Dauphin.
Joshua Schmidt also scored for the Kings (2-1-0-1) who will next be in action on Friday when they head to Swan River to play the Stampeders. The Kings then return home for their final preseason game on Saturday as Virden will be in town.
The team opens the 2024-25 regular season next Friday at Tundra Oil & Gas Place as they go up against the Oil Capitals. Darnell Duff will have the call of that game opening with the pregame show at 7:20.
