When she's on the field, the only thing that she is thinking about is how to get past her defender.

Or how she can make the perfect tackle to get the ball back so her team can move forward into the offensive zone. For the past 10 years, Aimee Steel has been honing her skills on the soccer pitch. From Grandview, being on the field is where Aimee loves to be.

"It distracts me from everything else, I feel like I know what I'm doing on the field," said Steel. "Playing soccer is one of the things I love to do."

Aimee will be front and centre showing off her skill against the best of the best age-eligible soccer players at the Manitoba Summer Games. In the 14U age category, Aimee has already hit the pitch with her teammates as they prepare to battle for a gold medal.

Steel grew up playing soccer because her family was very big into the sport and she's thrilled to get an opportunity to play in the Manitoba Summer Games (MSG).

"I was very excited when I first found out that I made the team," offered Steel. "I would say also a bit nervous, but mostly excited."

From the Opening Ceremonies to the Athlete's Village to the Closing Ceremonies, and everything in between, the MSG will provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many athletes.

"I'm looking forward to the entire experience, this is the biggest event that I have ever competed in," ended Steel. "There isn't a ton of competitive soccer in Grandview, so I'm looking forward to that aspect as well, going up against some great talent."
