Jayce Legaarden and the rest of the Winkler Flyers are heading to the playoff round at the Centennial Cup in Oakville.
The Flyers played the host Oakville Blades on Monday night and cruised from start to finish in a 4-0 win over the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) club.
Following a scoreless opening period, recent Division 1 commit Dalton Andrew scored his sixth of the tournament to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead and they never looked back. James Richards gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes and then Avery Anderson and Nicolas Mckee scored into an empty net late in the third.
Malachi Klassen was phenomenal in the net as he made 24 saves to record his first shutout on the national stage. With the full three points thanks to a regulation win, the Flyers move to two wins and one shootout loss, and they have seven points. That has them one point ahead of the Miramichi Timberwolves of the Maritimes Hockey League (MHL).
Bo Eisner and the Melfort Mustangs are back on the ice Tuesday to play Sioux Lookout.
