The Winnipeg Blue Bombers continue to stack up their roster ahead of the new season.
The club has announced that they are bringing back place kicker, Sergio Castillo. The deal is one year in length after Sergio was cut by the Edmonton Elks. Castillo helped Winnipeg win a Grey Cup in 2021 before he signed with Edmonton as a free agent.
In the team's 2021 Grey Cup win against Hamilton, Castillo scored 18 points in an eight-point win. Sergio made 37 out of the 44 field-goal attempts he had last year with Edmonton and he was 26 out of 29 on extra-point attempts. Throughout his CFL career, Sergio has made 85.5 percent of his field goals and 90.4 percent of his converts.
Winnipeg opens its pre-season on May 27 in Edmonton before returning home the following Friday for a pre-season game against Saskatchewan. Week one of the regular season has the Bombers on home field against Hamilton on June 9.
